The best game day food ideas are the ones you can eat with one hand while yelling at the TV with the other. That means crispy wings, warm sliders, a big bowl of dip, and plenty of crunchy things to scoop it with.

This guide is how I plan a Super Bowl spread around my air fryer. You’ll get a simple menu formula, how much food to make per guest, and a kickoff timeline so the wings come out hot right when the game starts. Every recipe linked below is one I’ve tested and written up here on Fork To Spoon.

If you’re still shopping for an air fryer before the big game, start with my guide to the best air fryers.

How to Build a Game Day Finger Food Spread

A great Super Bowl table needs five kinds of food, not fifteen recipes. Pick one or two from each group below and you’ll have something hot, something cheesy, something crunchy, and something sweet without living in the kitchen.

These amounts assume appetizers are the meal, which they usually are on game day. If you’re also serving chili or a main dish, cut each amount by about a third.

My one rule: no more than two items that need the air fryer in the last 30 minutes before kickoff. Everything else should be a make-ahead dip, a slow-cooker item, or something that holds well at room temperature.

Air Fryer Wings: The Game Day MVP

Wings are the one thing guests expect, and the air fryer makes them crispy without a pot of hot oil on the stove. Plan on two flavors: one classic and one sweet or sticky.

For a sweet-heat wing that disappears fast, make my Copycat Pizza Hut Sweet Chili Wings. For the kids and anyone who doesn’t want to deal with bones, Copycat Pizza Hut Boneless Wings are a must. Both recipes include oven directions too, which helps when your air fryer is busy.

Air Fryer Pretzel Chicken Tenders are another great option. The crushed pretzel coating gives you a salty crunch that pairs perfectly with honey mustard or buffalo sauce.

Make your own wing sauces

Homemade sauces taste better than bottled and you can make them days ahead.

Wing tip: Cook wings in a single layer and toss them in sauce right after they come out of the basket. Hot wings grab sauce better than cooled ones.

Sliders for a Crowd

Sliders are the easiest way to feed a room, because one pack of rolls becomes a dozen sandwiches. Most of mine bake as a single slab, so you cut them apart after they come out of the air fryer.

SliderWhy it works on game dayAir fryer time
Copycat White Castle SlidersOne pound of beef and a bag of dinner rolls, done in about 25 minutes. Freeze extras for up to 3 months.About 25 min total
Air Fryer King’s Hawaiian Ham and Cheese SlidersAssemble up to 24 hours ahead, then brush with butter and air fry.5 to 6 min at 320°F
Air Fryer Black Currant Smashburger SlidersCrispy-edged smash patties with a sweet and smoky seasoning.5 to 6 min at 400°F
Air Fryer Italian Beef SlidersTender shredded beef and melted cheese on soft rolls.5 to 8 min at 310°F
Air Fryer Cheesy BBQ Pork SlidersUses Instant Pot pulled pork, so the hard part is done early.5 to 7 min at 300°F
Chili’s Big Mouth Bites CopycatLoaded mini burgers; the recipe makes 16.8 to 10 min at 360°F

Hosting an early kickoff or a tailgate? Air Fryer Sausage, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sliders feed a crowd before noon.

Slider tip: Most 5-quart baskets hold about six sliders at a time. Line the basket with parchment so you can lift the whole slab out in one piece.

Game Day Dips Everyone Hovers Around

Serve one hot dip and one cold dip, and the snack table takes care of itself. Cold dips can be made the night before, which frees up your oven and air fryer on game day.

Cold and make-ahead dips

Dip tip: Keep a hot dip warm on the “warm” setting of a small slow cooker. Stir it at halftime so it doesn’t form a skin.

Nachos and Easy Super Bowl Appetizers in Small Bites

Small bites are what people graze on between plays, so they should be easy to grab and gone in two bites.

Nachos: Air Fryer Loaded BBQ Chicken Nachos bring smoky chicken and melted cheese in one tray. Build them in batches and serve each tray straight from the air fryer, since nachos are best eaten fresh. Prep the chicken and toppings ahead so each batch takes just minutes.

Jalapeño poppers without the mess: Air Fryer Jalapeño Popper Wonton Cups tuck that creamy, spicy filling into a crispy cup. They need 5 ingredients and 20 minutes, with no toothpicks and no oozing cheese.

Every dip needs a scooper, and homemade chips and pretzels make a store-bought spread feel special. These are also the best items to make a day or two ahead.

My Super Bowl Air Fryer Game Plan

The secret to a relaxed party is cooking in waves, with the crispiest food last. Here’s the order I follow.

  1. Two days before: Make wing sauces, blue cheese dressing, snack mix and homemade chips. Store chips in an airtight container.
  2. The day before: Mix cold dips. Cook pulled pork or chili. Assemble ham and cheese sliders without the butter glaze and refrigerate them.
  3. 3 hours before kickoff: Start the hot dip in a slow cooker on low. Set out snack mix and cold dips with chips.
  4. 90 minutes before: Air fry pretzel bites, cheese sticks and fried pickles. Hold them on a sheet pan in a 200°F oven.
  5. 60 minutes before: Brush and air fry the sliders in batches. Cover finished ones loosely with foil.
  6. 30 minutes before: Air fry the wings and toss them in sauce as each batch comes out.
  7. Halftime: Make fresh nachos or popper cups while everyone is refilling drinks.

Game Day Food FAQs

What are the most popular game day foods?

Wings, sliders, nachos, cheesy dips, and pretzels top almost every Super Bowl menu. Build your spread around one of each and you’ll cover what most guests are hoping for.

How many appetizers do I need for a Super Bowl party?

Plan on 5 to 6 different appetizers for 10 to 15 guests when finger foods are the whole meal. Aim for about 12 to 15 total pieces per person across the game.

What finger foods can I make ahead for game day?

Cold dips, wing sauces, snack mixes and homemade chips can all be made one to two days ahead. Sliders like ham and cheese can be assembled the night before and air fried right before serving.

Can I make Super Bowl appetizers in the air fryer?

Yes. Wings, sliders, nachos, pretzel bites, fried pickles and popper cups all cook well in the air fryer. Cook in single layers and in batches so everything gets crispy.

How do I keep game day food warm?

Hold fried and air fried snacks on a sheet pan in a 200°F oven. Keep hot dips in a slow cooker on the warm setting, and re-crisp anything that softens with 2 to 3 minutes in the air fryer.
