Air Fryer Takis Mozzarella Sticks Recipe Tips

  • Use Fresh Mozzarella: Stick with fresh mozzarella string cheese for the best melt and texture. Avoid pre-shredded cheese, as it may not melt as well.
  • Crush Takis Finely: The smaller the Takis pieces, the better they will adhere to the cheese, creating a crispier coating.
  • Double Coat for Extra Crispiness: For an extra crispy crust, dip the mozzarella sticks in the egg and Takis mixture twice before air frying.
  • Freeze Before Air Frying: Freezing the mozzarella sticks for 15-20 minutes before air frying helps them maintain their shape and prevents the cheese from melting out too quickly.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Basket: Arrange the sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and a crispy texture all around.
  • Spray with Oil: Lightly spray the coated mozzarella sticks with cooking spray before air frying to enhance the crispiness of the Takis coating.
  • Serve Immediately: These mozzarella sticks are best served fresh and hot, so make sure to enjoy them right after cooking for that gooey, cheesy center!

Storing

  • Storing: Allow the Air Fryer Takis Mozzarella Sticks to cool completely before storing to prevent condensation. Store them in an airtight container or resealable bag in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
  • Freezing: Pre-freeze the mozzarella sticks by laying them in a single layer on a baking sheet for 1-2 hours to prevent them from sticking together. Afterward, wrap each stick individually and store in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container for up to 2-3 months.
  • Reheating: To reheat from the refrigerator, preheat the air fryer to 375°F and cook the mozzarella sticks for 3-5 minutes until crispy and hot. For frozen mozzarella sticks, cook them at 375°F for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and the cheese is melted.
