Football food has one job: be gone by halftime. These are the appetizers that actually pull that off in my house, from crispy air fryer wings and bacon-wrapped poppers to hot, bubbling dips and chips you make yourself. Nearly all of them cook in the air fryer, so you can keep a steady stream of hot food coming without missing a play.

I’ve grouped them by type so you can build a spread: a couple of wings, a hot dip, something cheesy, and something crunchy to scoop with. Pick four or five and you’re set.
Wings
Air Fryer Hooters Buffalo Chicken Wings

The floured, crispy coating is what makes Hooters wings different, and the air fryer recreates it without a fryer full of oil. Toss in buttery buffalo sauce the second they come out. These are the wings that get eaten standing up in the kitchen before they reach the table.
Air fryer: 380°F, 25–28 minutes, flip halfway
Domino’s Hot Buffalo Chicken Wings (Copycat)

Classic medium-heat buffalo wings seasoned with garlic powder and smoked paprika before they go in the basket. Adjust the hot sauce up or down, or add honey for a sweet-heat version. Serve with blue cheese and plenty of napkins.
Air fryer: 25–30 minutes, shake every 8 minutes
TGI Friday’s Wings in the Air Fryer

Keep a bag of these in the freezer and you’re never more than 15 minutes from wings. The air fryer crisps the pre-cooked wings far better than the oven, and a toss in buffalo, BBQ or honey sriracha at the end makes them taste homemade.
Air fryer: 400°F
Instant pot Buffalo Wings or slow cooker buffalo wings

The ultimate guide to extra-crispy wings if you cook in a Ninja Foodi or any basket air fryer. Patting the wings completely dry is the secret. Once they’re crisp, sauce them however the crowd wants: buffalo, garlic Parmesan, BBQ or honey sriracha.
Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Hot and Spicy Chicken Wings

Pre-seasoned and frozen, these just need the air fryer to render the skin and crisp them up. They have a real kick, so put out ranch for the people who need it.
Air Fryer Kroger Frozen Wings

The budget wing that punches above its price. Straight from the freezer to the basket, no thawing, and they come out with crispy skin every time. Great for feeding a big crowd without spending a fortune.
Bacon-Wrapped and Handheld
Air Fryer Texas Twinkies

Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese and chopped brisket, wrapped in bacon and air fried until the bacon is crisp. Smoky, spicy, cheesy and the first thing to vanish from any platter. Soak your toothpicks so they don’t scorch.
Air fryer: 390°F, 8–10 minutes
Air Fryer Pigs in a Blanket

Three ingredients, six minutes, and every kid and adult in the room grabbing two at a time. Crescent dough gets flaky and golden in the air fryer with no soggy bottoms. Put out mustard, ketchup and honey mustard.
Air fryer: 370°F, 6–8 minutes
Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Frozen Mini Cheeseburgers

Frozen sliders that come out of the air fryer with warm, soft buns and fully melted cheese in minutes. Add a pickle chip to each one and set them out on a platter. They disappear faster than wings.
Air Fryer Bacon and Crab Rolls

A little fancier than the usual game day fare, but just as fast. Creamy crab filling wrapped in bacon and air fried until crisp. These are the ones people ask about.
How to Cook Trader Joe’s Potstickers in the Air Fryer

Crunchy bottoms, tender filling, and no standing over a skillet. A quick spray of oil helps them brown. Serve with soy sauce and chili crisp and watch a whole bag go in one quarter.
Air fryer: 370°F, 8–10 minutes, flip halfway
Air Fryer Wonton Jalapeño Poppers

Jalapeño popper filling baked into crispy wonton cups. All the flavor of a stuffed popper with none of the wrapping and toothpicks, and they’re easy to eat with one hand while holding a drink.

Three ingredients and the kids can help make them. Pizza dough, cheese and pepperoni puff up golden in the air fryer and get dunked in warm marinara. Make a double batch; a single batch never lasts.
Air Fryer Cheese Stuffed Garlic Rolls

Soft rolls stuffed with gooey cheese and brushed with garlic butter. They come out golden on top and pull apart with a cheese stretch. Serve next to any of the dips below.
Air Fryer Garlic Cream Cheese Rolls

Air fryer: 350°F, 5–7 minutes
Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Bread Cheese

One ingredient. Squeaky, grillable cheese goes into the air fryer and comes out golden and crisp outside, soft and warm inside. Serve with honey or marinara and it’s the most talked-about thing on the table.
Air fryer: 6–8 minutes, flip halfway
Air Fryer Flaky Spinach Garlic Rounds

Layers of flaky pastry wrapped around a cheesy spinach and garlic filling. They bake up golden in the air fryer and hold together for dipping in marinara or ranch.
Air fryer: 350°F, 8–10 minutes
Hot Dips
Air Fryer Cheesy Bacon Spinach Dip

Cream cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, spinach and crispy bacon, baked in the air fryer until golden and bubbling. This is the dip that gets scraped clean with the last chip. Serve it in a small deep dish so it stays gooey.
Air fryer: 320°F, 8–10 minutes
Air Fryer French Onion Dip

Caramelized onions folded into a creamy, cheesy base and warmed in the air fryer until the top is golden. Nothing like the packet stuff. Put it out with kettle chips and step back.
Air Fryer Artichoke Dip

Hot, creamy artichoke dip with a whisper of jalapeño, ready in about 20 minutes. Half the artichokes get blended for a silky base and the rest are chopped in for texture. Mix it the night before and air fry when the pregame starts.
Air Fryer Cheesy Hot Crab Dip

Lump crab in a rich, cheesy base that comes out of the air fryer bubbling in 20 minutes. It’s the dip for the big game when you want to put out something a little special. Serve with toasted baguette or bagel chips.
Air Fryer Salsa

Tomatoes, jalapeños and garlic roast in the air fryer until charred, then blend with cilantro and lime for a smoky restaurant-style salsa. Make it in the morning so the flavors have time to come together.
Chips for Dipping
Air Fryer Everything Bagel Chips

Sliced bagels tossed in olive oil and air fried until crunchy, with everything seasoning on top. They’re sturdy enough for the thickest dip and take under five minutes.
Air fryer: 320°F, 3–5 minutes
Air Fryer Ranch Pita Chips

Pita bread cut into triangles, tossed with ranch seasoning and air fried until crisp. My son’s favorite snack, and the perfect scoop for the French onion and spinach dips above.
Air Fryer Taco Spiced Tortilla Chips

Tortillas brushed with oil, dusted with taco seasoning and air fried into warm, crunchy chips. They’re better than anything from a bag and made for the air fryer salsa.
Game Day Tips
- Stagger the cooking. Dips and chips can be made ahead. Wings and pigs in a blanket go in the air fryer at kickoff and again at halftime so they’re always hot.
- Two air fryers beat one. If you host a lot, a second basket for the season pays for itself.
- Keep dips warm. A small slow cooker on warm keeps spinach or crab dip gooey through the fourth quarter.
- Pick a lineup, not everything. Two wings, one handheld, two dips and one chip is a full spread for eight to ten people.
- Reheat in the air fryer. Leftover wings and bites crisp right back up at 350°F for 3 to 4 minutes. The microwave makes them soft.
Football Appetizer FAQs
How many appetizers do I need for a football party? Plan on five or six different items and about 8 to 10 bites per person for a full game. If it’s replacing dinner, add a slider or wing option and bump that up.

What’s the best dip for a crowd? The cheesy bacon spinach dip goes fastest every time. Double it.
