- Ribeye Steak: Choose 1-inch thick ribeye steaks with plenty of marbling for a juicy, tender steak. Bone-in or boneless works, but boneless is easier for air frying.
- Olive Oil: A drizzle of olive oil helps lock in moisture and create a crispy, golden exterior.
- Salt & Black Pepper: Highlights the steak’s natural flavor. Adjust to taste for the perfect balance.
- Compound Butter: For extra flavor, mix unsalted butter with minced garlic and fresh herbs like chives or parsley. It’s a simple way to take your steak to the next level!
How to Cook Ribeye Steak in the Air Fryer
Learning how to cook ribeye steak in the air fryer is quick and easy! In this step-by-step guide, I’ll show you exactly how to get a juicy, perfectly cooked steak in minutes.
Step 1: Prep the steak
Let your ribeye sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Then, pat it dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper.
Step 2: Preheat your air fryer
Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Preheat to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes. The hotter the air fryer, the better the sear on your steak.
Step 3: Season the steak
Rub both sides of your steak with olive oil, then season evenly with salt and pepper. Don’t forget to season the edges too!
Step 4: Air fry
Cook the steak for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through. Check for doneness with a meat thermometer:
- Medium rare: 135 degrees F
- Medium: 145 degrees F
- Well done: 160 degrees F
Step 5: Rest and serve
Let the steak rest for 3-5 minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.
Optional: Make compound butter
Mix the butter, garlic, and herbs together, and chill until ready to serve. Place a dollop of the compound butter on top of the steak just before serving.
Air Fryer Ribeye Steak Pro Tips
- Room Temperature Steaks: Let the steak reach room temperature before cooking to ensure even cooking and extra juiciness.
- Pat Dry: Be sure to pat your steak dry with paper towels before seasoning. This helps create a nice sear and prevents the steak from steaming in the air fryer.
- Choose the Right Cut: This ribeye steak in air fryer recipe works best with well-marbled steaks that are at least 1 inch thick. The marbling melts as it cooks, ensuring a juicy, flavorful steak every time.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheating is key to achieving a great sear. When making this ribeye steak air fryer recipe, this step ensures the steak cooks evenly and develops a flavorful crust.
- Flip Halfway: Flip your steak halfway through to ensure even cooking and a beautiful crust on both sides.
- Use a Meat Thermometer: It’s the best way to ensure your steak is cooked exactly how you like it.
- Let the Steak Rest: Don’t skip the resting step! Letting your air fryer ribeye steak rest for 3-5 minutes after cooking helps retain its juices for maximum tenderness and flavor.
- Experiment with Seasonings: While salt and pepper are always great, try adding garlic powder, paprika, or steak seasoning for extra flavor.
