I believe that everyone needs to know how to make a basic chicken cutlet in the air fryer. I mean, it’s a great starter dish for everyone! Today, I am showing you my fool-proof recipe to make a Perfect Air Fryer Chicken Cutlets.
Growing up, we ate chicken cutlets almost every week, and they were the basis of most dishes (think chicken parmesan or chicken marsala). So making an excellent chicken cutlet was something that was taught to me at a young age.
What Is An Air Fryer Chicken Cutlet?
It is just a thin piece of chicken. You can either purchase it like that or learn how to use your kitchen mallet and flatten it.
If you have never used a kitchen mallet before, it’s a simple way to flatten meat to make it thinner. You just cut the normal chicken breast in half and then use the mallet and pound on it until it is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick, depending on what your recipe calls for.
Ingredients:
- 2 eggs, cracked and mixed in a bowl
- 1 cup of breadcrumbs or panko
- 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
- 4–5 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 2 pieces of chicken breast
Simple Directions:
- Start by preheating your Air Fryer to 350 degrees F. (air fryer setting)
- In a small bowl, crack your eggs and mix them, with a fork.
- In another small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs or panko, Italian seasoning, and oil.
- Then dip the chicken into the egg mixture and then into the breadcrumb mixture.
- Spray your air fryer basket with olive oil.
- As you coat the chicken, place them into your Air Fryer basket.
- Here is the SECRET: At this point, use your olive oil spray and cover the chicken’s breading with olive oil. The more olive oil that you use, the more tender it will be. But do not go overboard. a light coating.
- Set your time for 18 minutes. Note: it will depend on the thickness of your chicken breast. After 10 minutes, flip your chicken and use olive oil spray again.
- When the chicken is done, remove the chicken breasts. Check the internal temperature of the chicken, before removing it.
- Plate, serve, and enjoy!

Then dip the chicken breast into the egg and then the panko or breadcrumbs
Add the chicken to the Air Fryer and set the timer.
Halfway through flip the chicken.

Do I Need To Use Oil To Air Fryer Chicken Cutlets?
Yes, anything with breading requires a thin coat, of olive oil to coat the breading, which will allow it to crisp up. I have not found anything that crisps up in the air fryer without a spray of oil.
How Long Do I Air Fry A Chicken Cutlet?
That really will be dependent on two things, the air fryer you own and how thick your chicken is.
You always need to check the internal temperature of the chicken, before removing it from the air fryer, to make sure it’s fully cooked.
