Tips For Making Bacon Wrapped Pineapple
- Flexible recipe. You can use either fresh or canned pineapples. You can also use pineapple rings for this pineapple bacon appetizer.
- Cut your bacon so that it fits flat in the air fryer.
- Prep these ahead of time, then reheat them right before your guests arrive.
- Don’t add too much to your basket. For best results, do not crowd your air fryer basket. Otherwise, they will not crisp up correctly!
- Skip preheating. You do not need to preheat your air fryer for this recipe.
Hot or Cold Pineapple Appetizer
At parties and on holidays, I love putting out a few things that my guests can help themselves to.
While I try to give a mix of hot and cold items, this recipe for bacon wrapped pineapple bites is delicious either way — straight out of the air fryer or cooled to room temperature. You can serve this pineapple appetizer either hot or cold. Both ways are amazing!
What Bacon To Use
I used regular bacon, and I recommend using either thin bacon or center cut. The thicker the bacon, the longer they will take to cook.
Turkey bacon would work well, but the cooking time will be decreased by a few minutes.
Some great flavors to try are:
- Maple Bacon
- Black Pepper Bacon
- Applewood Bacon
- Hardwood Smoked Bacon
Canned Or Fresh Pineapple?
Either will work. I love keeping some fresh pineapple on hand for this recipe. However, canned is a great option when pineapples aren’t in season.
Is It Safe To Use Toothpicks When Making This Pineapple Bacon Appetizer?
I often use toothpicks in my air fryer without any trouble. But for best results, I would soak your toothpicks in water for about 10 to 15 minutes before using them in the air fryer. But remember to check your owner’s manual for safety concerns since every air fryer is slightly different.
Does The Bacon Get Crispy?
Yes, you will get a fabulous and crispy piece of bacon!
How To Make Bacon Wrapped Pineapple In the Oven
Cook this pineapple appetizer in the oven by wrapping the pineapple with bacon and placing on a large baking sheet. Add sauce and cook in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until the bacon is crispy.
Can You Buy Pineapple All Year Round?
This will depend on where you live. I can usually find it throughout the year at the local grocery store, Whole Foods, Costco, or even Trader Joe’s.
