Air Fryer Birria Fries Recipe Tips
- Use Thick-Cut Fries: For the best texture, opt for thick-cut fries. Thin fries may not hold up well under the weight of the birria meat and toppings.
- Coat the Fries with Seasoning: After air frying, give your fries an extra boost by seasoning them with a bit of salt, pepper, and chili powder to enhance the flavor before layering the meat and cheese.
- Rehydrate Chilies Properly: When preparing the birria sauce, ensure you rehydrate the dried chilies thoroughly for a smooth and flavorful sauce. Don’t skip this step, as it will help prevent bitterness.
- Air Fry in Batches: Depending on your air fryer’s size, you may need to cook the fries and birria meat in batches to prevent overcrowding and ensure even cooking.
- Use Fresh Ingredients for Garnishes: Fresh cilantro and onions give the dish a burst of freshness, and a squeeze of lime can bring out all the flavors.
- Serve with Consomé: Don’t skip the consomé dip. It adds rich flavor and moisture that makes the birria fries truly irresistible.

Storing
- Storing: To store leftover Air Fryer Birria Fries, place them in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2-3 days. Ensure they are fully cooled before storing to prevent excess moisture buildup.
- Freezing: You can freeze the fries by laying them flat on a baking sheet in a single layer to freeze individually. Once frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or container, where they can be stored for up to 2 months.
- Reheating: Reheat your birria fries by placing them back in the air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes, or until heated through and crispy again. This method ensures they retain their crunch and flavor. Alternatively, you can reheat them in the oven at 375°F for about 10 minutes, but the air fryer method is ideal for maintaining crispness.
