Air Fryer Salsa Verde has a flavor close to the traditional salsa. It’s hot and spicy with a bit of a kick of garlic. The tomatillos, cilantro, green chiles, and jalapeños are cooked in the air fryer until they’re soft and then blended with spices to create a perfect sauce for tacos or as an accompaniment to steak or chicken dishes.

What Is Tomatillo Salsa Verde?

Tomatillo salsa verde is a traditional Mexican sauce made from tomatillos, jalapeños, onion and cilantro. It’s typically used as a condiment or topping for tacos, burritos, and other dishes. The ingredients are pureed with water to pour the green liquid over everything! This recipe will show you how to make your tomatillo salsa verde at home.

What Are Tomatillos?

Tomatillos are a staple of Mexican cuisine. They’re small and green and often used in salsas and sauces. If you like the taste of tomatoes but want something with a little more tang, tomatillos may be your new favorite ingredient!

The average tomatillo is about 3 inches long by 1 inch wide (7 cm x 2.5 cm) and has a papery husk enclosing the fruit’s fleshy interior. Tomatillos can range from green to white or yellow depending on when harvested; those picked later will have less acidity than those selected earlier in the season because they’ve had time to develop.

You can easily air fryer tomatillos for a quick snack!

How To Blend The Salsa:

You can either use a blender or food processor to dice this salsa. Here are some tips:

Blender/Food Processor: You can make this salsa in a blender or food processor. Just pulse for a few seconds until desired consistency is reached!

Pulse at 30-second intervals and mix after each pulse for perfect consistency. Stop pulsing when it’s the consistency you desire.

Thicker Salsa: If you want thicker salsa, reduce the amount of lime juice and water.

Adjusting Flavors:

Spicer or Milder Salsa: To adjust the spice level, remove all of the seeds and membranes, which will produce milder salsa.

If you prefer more heat, add back in some poblano seeds for an extra boost! To make your salsa spicier, replace them with red or yellow varieties depending on your preference.

How To Store Salsa

Salsa is a delicious way to season food. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stay fresh for long. Here are some tips on how to store salsa to enjoy it for longer.

Store in an airtight container and put the jar into the fridge or freezer if there is any leftover after your meal. You can also freeze salsa by pouring it into ice cube trays and freezing it until solid before transferring them all to a ziplock bag with as much air removed as possible. Finally, add some lime juice or vinegar to your salsa – this will help preserve it!

Can You Freeze Salsa Verde? Can You Freeze Homemade Salsa Verde?

Freezing salsa verde is a great idea! If you’ve ever found yourself with an abundance of salsa verde, you may wonder if you can freeze it. The answer is yes – you can freeze salsa verde for future use.

Let the salsa cool to room temperature, and then place it into an airtight freezer-safe container. Placed into the freezer, it will last for 2 to 3 months. When you are ready to use your salsa verde, place it in the refrigerator or keep it at room temperature until it’s thawed.

How Do You Thicken Salsa Verde?

Salsa verde is a delicious Mexican sauce with tomatillos, chilies, and spices. It’s perfect for tacos, enchiladas, and burritos. But sometimes, it can be a little too runny. So how do you thicken salsa verde? There are several ways to do it.

In a small cup mix 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch and 1/4 cup of water, mix that together and then fold it into the salsa verde.
