What Are Baked Beans?

Baked beans are a dish prepared with beans, then mixed with a few pantry items, and then baked to perfection. Although you can leave out the bacon, most baked bean recipes will include bacon or bacon bits.

The beans will vary from canned to navy, common, kidney, cannellini, or French beans. Today, I used a simple canned bean to make this a quick and easy meal to whip up as a side dish.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COOK BAKED BEANS

The longer you bake your beans, the better they get. If you love them carmelized, keep baking or air-frying them until the sauce is thick.

HOW TO MAKE BACON

To make bacon you can make it in various ways; you can air fry it for about 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees F, flipping halfway.

Or you can bake it in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F for 15 to 18 minutes, flipping halfway.

You can also microwave the bacon until crispy.

HOW TO STORE THE LEFTOVERS

Any leftovers should be stored in the refrigerator. Let them cool to room temperature, and then place them in an airtight container.

Place the container into the refrigerator. The leftover baked beans will keep for about 3 to 5 days.

HOW TO REHEAT THE LEFTOVER BAKED BEANS

To heat up again, place them into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave them until hot. You can also heat them in the Air Fryer, place them in a bowl, and air fry them until heated.

Also, you can heat them in a skillet over medium-high heat and heat until warmed through.

HOW TO FREEZE BAKED BEANS

This is a great side dish to keep in your freezer. Cook them as directed and then let them cool to room temperature and then place them into a freezer-safe container, and freeze for about 1 to 2 months.

To use from frozen: Place the frozen baked beans into the refrigerator and let them thaw overnight. Reheat them with the directions above.
