How To Make Air Fryer Sausage Egg Cheese Toaster Strudel

Scrambling eggs with sausage and melting cheese in a skillet

Step One: Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. While the pan heats, whisk the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl until well combined.

Step Two: Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and scramble for about 1 minute. Add the chopped sausage and continue cooking, stirring gently. Once the eggs are fully cooked, sprinkle in the cheese and cook just until melted.

Assembling puff pastry strudels with scrambled eggs, sausage, and sealed edges

Step Three: Roll out one puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured cutting board. Use a pizza cutter to cut the sheet into six equal rectangular sections. Repeat the process with the second puff pastry sheet.

Step Four: Set the air fryer to 375°F on the air fryer setting. Preheat for 5 minutes while you assemble the strudels.

Step Five:  Place about 1/4 cup of the scrambled eggs and sausage in the center of each puff pastry rectangle. Leave about a fingertip-width of space around the edges. Wet your fingertip with water and trace along the edges of the dough to help seal the pastry. Lay a second puff pastry rectangle over the filling. Press gently along the edges with your fingertip, then use a fork to crimp and fully seal.

Brushing melted butter on puff pastry strudels and sprinkling everything bagel seasoning

Step Six: Brush the tops of the assembled puff pastry strudels with melted butter. Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning evenly over each strudel.

Step Seven: Cook at 375°F for 6–7 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy. Place the strudels in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

Air Fryer Sausage Egg Cheese Toaster Strudel Recipe Tips

  • Don’t overfill the pastry: Leaving a little space around the edges prevents the filling from leaking during cooking.
  • Seal the edges well: Use water and a fork to crimp the edges so the strudel stays intact.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Ensures the strudels cook evenly and get crispy all around.
  • Brush with butter: Brushing the tops adds flavor and helps the everything bagel seasoning stick.
  • Cook in a single layer: Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to maintain crispiness.
  • Customizable fillings: Swap sausage for bacon, add veggies, or use different cheeses to suit your taste.
  • Check for golden color: Cooking times vary slightly by air fryer model, so watch for golden brown pastry.

Storing Instructions

  • Room Temperature: Let cooled strudels sit in an airtight container for up to 2 hours if serving soon.
  • Refrigerator: Store fully cooked strudels in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–4 minutes to restore crispiness.
  • Freezer: Wrap unbaked, assembled strudels tightly in plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe bag for up to 1 month. Cook directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the air fryer cooking time.
  • Avoid sogginess: Reheating in the air fryer keeps the pastry crispy, unlike microwaving which can make it soft.
