Pro Tips For Cooking Bagel Chips In Air Fryer

Here are some pro tips for cooking bagel chips in an air fryer to achieve crispy and flavorful results:

  • Choose Fresh Bagels: Opt for fresh bagels rather than stale ones for the best texture and taste. Stale bagels might become too hard after air frying.
  • Slice Thinly and Evenly: Use a sharp knife to slice the bagels into thin, uniform rounds. Thin slices will crisp up nicely and evenly during air frying.
  • Brush with Oil: Lightly brush each side of the bagel slices with a thin layer of olive oil or your preferred cooking oil. This helps promote even browning and prevents them from drying out.
  • Season Well: Season the bagel slices with your favorite seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or bagel seasoning.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer for a few minutes before adding the bagel slices. This ensures they start cooking immediately and achieve a crisp exterior.
  • Avoid Overcrowding: Arrange the bagel slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overlapping. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking.
  • Monitor Closely: Keep an eye on the bagel chips as they cook. Cooking times can vary based on the air fryer model and the thickness of the slices.
  • Flip Midway: Flip the bagel chips halfway through the cooking time for even crispiness.
  • Batch Cooking: If making a large batch, cook the bagel chips in multiple batches to avoid overcrowding and ensure even cooking.
  • Adjust Cooking Time: Bagel chip cooking time can vary, so be prepared to adjust the cooking time based on how quickly they are crisping.
  • Cool Before Storing: Allow the bagel chips to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container. This helps maintain their crispness.
  • Serve with Dips: Bagel chips are great for dipping! Pair them with your favorite dip recipes like hummus, salsa, guacamole, or cream cheese.
  • Experiment with Flavors: Get creative with your seasonings! Try sweet variations with cinnamon and sugar or savory options with ranch seasoning, parmesan cheese,  or smoked paprika.
  • Keep an Eye on High-Moisture Toppings: If adding toppings like cheese, tomato sauce, or spreads, be cautious, as they can make the chips soggy. Add them after air frying if desired.

Following these pro tips, you can whip up a batch of perfectly crispy and flavorful bagel chips in your air fryer, ready to enjoy as a snack or with your favorite dips.
