How to Make Chick Fil A Chicken Noodle Soup

Boiling boneless, skinless chicken breasts until fully cooked and shredding with forks.

Step One: Start by cooking the boneless, skinless chicken breasts. You can either boil them in water or chicken broth until fully cooked (about 15-20 minutes), then shred the chicken using two forks.

Sautéing diced onion, carrots, celery, and garlic in melted butter until softened and fragrant.

Step Two: In a large pot, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion, carrots, and celery, and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step Three: Pour in the chicken stock, then add the dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Adding egg noodles and shredded chicken to the soup, simmering until tender and flavorful.

Step Four: Add the egg noodles to the soup and continue to cook for 7-9 minutes, or until the noodles are tender. Stir in the shredded chicken and let the soup simmer for another 5 minutes. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Step Five: Ladle the soup into bowls, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot. Enjoy your homemade Chick-fil-A Chicken Noodle Soup!

Copycat Chick-fil-A Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe Tips

  • Shred the Chicken Well: For the best texture, make sure to shred the chicken into small, bite-sized pieces. This allows the chicken to blend seamlessly with the broth and noodles.
  • Use Fresh Vegetables: Freshly diced onions, carrots, and celery give the soup a deliciously crisp and savory flavor. Try to chop them evenly to ensure uniform cooking.
  • Don’t Overcook the Noodles: Egg noodles cook quickly, so be sure to add them near the end of the cooking process to avoid them becoming too soft or mushy. Keep an eye on them and taste for tenderness.
  • Season to Taste: Adjust the seasoning as needed. Depending on your preference, you can add more salt, pepper, or even a pinch of cayenne pepper for a subtle heat.
  • Add Herbs: Fresh parsley or thyme can be added at the end for extra freshness and flavor. It not only enhances the taste but also adds a lovely color to the soup.
  • For a Creamier Texture: If you prefer a creamier soup, you can stir in a splash of heavy cream or milk when the soup is almost done cooking.

Storing

  • Storing: Store any leftover Chick-fil-A Chicken Noodle Soup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Make sure the soup has cooled down completely before refrigerating to maintain freshness.
  • Freezing: To freeze the soup, let it cool completely, then transfer to a freezer-safe container or bag. It can be frozen for up to 3 months; just be sure to leave some space for expansion.
  • Reheating: Reheat the soup in a pot over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it’s warmed through. You can also reheat it in the microwave, stirring every minute to ensure even heating.
