Ingredients For the Air Fryer Steakhouse Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Steakhouse Baked Potatoes on table.
  • Potatoes: If you’re trying to make a traditional baked potato, Russet potatoes are the best choice. Pick ones that are roughly the same size, to ensure they’re cooked evenly.
  • Oil: Choose avocado oil, coconut oil or refined olive oil. These have a high smoke point and are perfect to use for air frying. I’ve also put together a detailed post about the best oils to use for air frying
  • Salt: Use kosher salt or sea salt. Toppings: Here’s where you can get creative. Pick from the classics like garlic powder, bacon, cheese, sour cream and chopped chives or think outside the box and experiment with paprika and green onions.

Variations & Substitutions

  • Use salted butter instead of oil to lend these potatoes a rich, buttery flavor. Remember to also use a bit of oil along with it, since butter can get absorbed pretty quickly, and the skin won’t crisp up as much, if you use only butter.
  • Top the potatoes with some leftover air fried chili or some Chipotle-style corn salsa to add more flavor and deliciousness.
  • You can also top the potatoes with some leftover Crockpot shredded chicken or shredded buffalo chicken to make the dish heartier.
  • To make these steakhouse baked potatoes cheesy, top them with some gruyere or sharp cheddar cheese, a sprinkle of Italian seasoning and some chopped chives or your favorite herbs.
  • Make spicy baked potatoes by topping these with some cayenne, paprika or red pepper flakes or a drizzle of your favorite hot sauce.

Season potatoes: Brush each potato with oil and top them with a sprinkle of sea salt or kosher salt.

Air fry: Arrange the potatoes in your Air Fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 25-30 minutes or until they’re golden brown and fork tender.

Top and serve: Use a sharp knife to create a slit in each potato, top with your favorite toppings and serve.

Tips & Tricks to Make the Perfect Steakhouse Potatoes in Air Fryer

  • Just like with all Air Fryer recipes, make sure you don’t overcrowd the basket with too many potatoes, and leave a bit of room between them for the hot air to circulate.
  • Choose the best quality potatoes you can find. If you see any greenish spots or areas on the potatoes, they’ve gone past their prime, and it’s best not to use them.
  • Use Russet or Idaho potatoes for this recipe. They have just the right amount of starch, which makes them crispy outside and soft and fluffy inside.
  • Don’t forget to poke holes into the potatoes. Doing this allows the potato to get soft on the inside, lets the steam escape, and the skin crisps up perfectly on the outside too!

HStorage Instructions

Refrigeration: If you have any leftover steakhouse baked potatoes, allow them to cool down completely, wrap them in foil and then transfer them to an airtight container. You can then refrigerate them for up to 3 days and reheat them, top them with your favorite toppings and serve them whenever you want to.

Reheating: The best way to reheat the potatoes is to use your Air Fryer. Add them to the Air Fryer basket, preheated at 360°F and cook for 5-7 minutes or until the potatoes get hot and crispy.

Serving Ideas & Suggestions

These fluffy baked spuds taste incredible when paired with a meaty main like turkey tenderloin, Ninja Foodi pork tenderloin, grilled flank steak or even some Air Fryer prime rib

And on days when I want to keep it light, I serve it with some classic baked beans, blackstone catfish or even just some air fried catfish

FAQs

How will I know the potatoes are done cooking? The best way to check for the doneness of the potatoes is to poke a knife or a fork into them at the 20 minute mark. If it glides through, the potatoes are done.  You can also use a thermometer to check their internal temperature. The ideal temperature for a fully cooked potato ranges between 210°F and 212°F.

Should I wrap the potatoes in foil before air frying them? If you’re making Air Fryer steakhouse potatoes, you don’t need to cover them in foil. In fact, doing that will cause them to become soft and soggy, and they won’t have that perfect crispy skin you’re looking for.

Can I make steakhouse baked potatoes in the oven? Yes, you can! Air Frying is much better though, since it is quicker than baking, and also translates into less mess and cleanup.
