What You Need To Air Fry Steak Fries

Cooking fries has never been so easy! The best thing about making steak fries in the air fryer is you only need frozen steak fries…and your air fryer. For best results, keep your fries frozen. No need to thaw them!

This recipe will work in any air fryer, including my Cosori 5.8 Quart Air Fryer, Instant Pot Vortex, and even the Ninja Foodi!

I used Ore Ida Frozen Gold Steak Fries for this recipe, but you can use Great Value Steak Fries, your store brand, or Trader Joe’s Frozen Steak Fries!

How To Make Frozen Steak Fries In The Air Fryer

Step 1: Add fries to the air fryer

Add your frozen fries into the basket and spread them out.

Step 2: Air fry steak fries

Set the temperature to 400 degrees F and cook for 12 to 15 minutes.

Note: For basket air fryers, shake the basket halfway during the cooking process.

Making Air Fryer Steak Fries From Scratch

There is nothing better than making homemade air fryer steak fries! I have made them many times and wanted to share the directions with you.

  1. Wash and dry 4 to 5 Russet potatoes, then peel them.
  2. Cut them into 1/2-inch wedges.
  3. Soak them for about 20 to 30 minutes, which helps to remove the starch from the potatoes, which helps them crisp up!

4. After soaking your potatoes, drain the water, and use a paper towel to dry the potatoes. Add them to a small bowl, coat them with olive oil, and add your seasonings.

5. Set them into the air fryer basket, set the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, frequently shaking during the cooking process.

6 Depending on how thick cooking steak fries are, you may need to increase the cooking time. Remember to check your air fryer steak fries frequently during the cooking process.

Are Air Fryer French Fries Healthy?

They aren’t necessarily healthy, but it is healthier to air fry steak fries since you do not use any oil or grease like traditional fast-food French Fries.

These are so good with so many different options. I love serving these steak fries in the air fryer with my homemade ketchup. They also taste great with McDonald’s Hot Mustard, Creamy Roasted Red Pepper Sauce, or even Alfredo Dip.
