I call this the adult version of candied bacon. The secret ingredient is Bourbon, and Bourbon makes bacon very, very good.
Today, I used the following ingredients to get a sinful breakfast for my husband and me. We did not serve any to the children, so please do not worry or fret.
The simple ingredients that you need,
- 1 pound thick-cut bacon
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 2/3 cup maple syrup
Here are the simple steps you need to make this bacon, in your air fryer,
- In a large and wide bowl, mix together the brown sugar, maple syrup, and bourbon. Mix well.
- Place the bacon into the dish and press the syrup on the bacon, both sides.
- As you coat them, place them in your air fryer basket or tray.
- Set the tray or basket into your air fryer, set the temperature to 400 degrees F for 7-9 minutes. Let them cool, as they cool the sugars will harden.
- Plate, serve, and enjoy!

- Bacon is generally referring to the meat from the pig’s belly or back. In American most of the bacon at the grocery stores is salt-cured.
- The United States mostly sells side pork, which is cut from the side of the pig. If you want different types of bacon, you usually just need to go to a butcher shop.
- The salt-cured means that it was soaked in a mixture of salt, nitrates, and sugar, and smoked before you purchase it. Also known as a preserving method.
- I often purchase Nitrate free bacon, at health food stores and Trader Joe’s, the package is usually marked with Nitrate Free. Nitrates have been debated for years, they are simply a chemical that is used for food preservation. They help to prevent bacteria, they also give the meat a red color.
Here Are Some Tips For Air Frying Bacon-
- The best piece of advice I can give you when air frying bacon is AWAYS, ALWAYS preheat the air fryer, bacon tends to cook better on a hot surface. If you do not have a preheat function, simply run the air fryer at 400 degrees F, for 5-7 minutes, before adding the bacon.
- Spread out the bacon, so it’s flat in the air fryer. While we all love bacon and like to make as possible, overcrowding the basket, usually ends to less than perfect results.
- The ideal temperature is 400 degrees F. (air fryer setting)
- Tip #1— Add a couple of tablespoons of water to the bottom of the air fryer basket. This will prevent smoke that occurs when you are air frying bacon. (Only for basket models)
- Tip #2–Add a piece of stale bread underneath the basket (in between the two baskets) but CHECK with your model manufacturer before doing so.
- At the halfway point, always flip the bacon, with a sturdy pair of tongs.
