How Long to Cook Bacon in the Air Fryer
The exact time of your bacon will be determined by how thick your bacon is and what type of air fryer you own.
Regular Cut Bacon: Will air fry in about 7 to 9 minutes, the 9 minutes being a great plate of crispy bacon.
Thick Cut Bacon: Will air fryer in about 9 to 12 minutes, 12 minutes for a crispy bacon plate.
What Temperature to Cook Bacon in the Air Fryer
I like cooking my bacon at 390 degrees F, air fryer setting, I think that any lower temperature will lead to flimsy bacon, and we are talking about Crispy Air Fryer Bacon in this recipe!
Crispy requires a higher heat temperature.
Can I use turkey bacon?
Yes, you can air fry a batch of turkey bacon. The cooking time will be reduced by about 7 to 9 minutes, cooking at a 350 degrees F, air fryer setting.
Do I have to preheat the air fryer?
That will depend on what type of air fryer you own; I usually preheat my air fryer for bacon. I find that it cooks better in a room-temperature air fryer.
And you get crispier bacon by not preheating!
Should I add oil to the bacon?
No, with the air fryer, you can use any additional oil for cooking up the bacon. This is not skillet cooking. The hot air perfectly cooks up your bacon without any additional oil needed. This is why the air fryer is considered healthier cooking than skillet or deep-frying.
How to prevent bacon smoking?
You will often see white smoke coming out of your air fryer while cooking bacon or other fatty foods.
There are a couple of ways to prevent this from happening.
Add a couple of tablespoons of water to the bottom of your air fryer basket. When your grease or fat drops into the basket, it will mix with the water instead of smoking, causing it not to smoke.
Add a piece of bread to the bottom of your basket, which will catch your bacon grease.
Remember to always check your owner’s manual before using any of these methods since every air fryer is slightly different.
