Air Fryer Jalapeno Popper Egg Rolls Recipe Tips

  • Get Everything Ready First: Before you start, make sure all your ingredients are
  • prepped. Chop up your jalapenos, grate the cheese, and have the egg roll wrappers set out.
  • Soften the Cream Cheese: Working with soft cream cheese is much easier. I leave it out for about 30 minutes or give it a quick zap in the microwave to soften it.
  • Don’t Overfill: Be careful not to put too much filling in each wrapper. I use about 2 tablespoons of filling for each egg roll. This way, they cook evenly and don’t break apart.
  • Seal the Edges: To keep the filling from leaking out, I use water or egg wash to seal the edges of the wrapper. Make sure they’re sealed tightly!
  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Like baking, I preheat my air fryer for a few minutes. It
  • helps get that nice crispy texture.
  • Lightly Spray with Oil: For extra crunch, I spray the egg rolls with a little cooking spray before air frying. This helps them turn golden without deep frying.
  • Flip for Even Cooking: About halfway through air frying, I flip the egg rolls so both sides get crispy.
  • Cool on a Rack: After they’re done, I let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. This keeps them from getting soggy and helps them stay crunchy.

Variations

  • Chicken: Add shredded chicken to the filling to make chicken jalapeno popper egg rolls.
  • Veggie Delight: Skip the bacon and add shredded carrots or bell peppers.
  • Cheese Heaven: Use different cheeses like Monterey Jack or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.

Substitutions

Don’t have everything? Here’s what you can use instead:

  • Cream Cheese: Try ricotta or goat cheese.
  • Bacon: Use smoked paprika or liquid smoke.
  • Egg Roll Wrappers: Spring roll wrappers or phyllo dough work too.
