Air Fryer, Fried Cabbage (KETO Friendly)
Ok, I will admit it, I was going to make this and I was like, ugh cabbage, but I wanted to make it since it is one of the most requested recipes in the Facebook Group, so I thought ok, with St. Patrick’s Day coming up, I will do it, before then. I also have corned beef in my refrigerator, that is will be hitting the air fryer today.
But, I roasted this and I have to tell you, I am now a BIG fan as is my 14-year-old son, who came running down because he smelled Brussels sprouts, I thought yeah they really do. And you know what after you roast the cabbage, the cabbages does taste a lot like Brussels Sprouts.
The key to air frying cabbage is that if you cut it into large chunks it will not fly around, if you slice it into little, thin pieces it will fly and that could be possibly very dangerous if it flies into the heating element. So, my advice is to cut it into rather thick slices, and it will take a bit longer, but worth the wait.
Here is my step by step guide,
This is the cabbage I used in this recipe. Plain old green cabbage.
As I stated, it is safer to cut the cabbage into large circles, rather than thin slices. Because as they roast in the air fryer, they could fly up and be lodged in the heating element, which is dangerous. So keep it in large circles. Just slice it, as you are slicing bread, horizontal.
Place the sliced cabbage into a medium-sized bowl.
Then coat the cabbage with olive oil. What I did was poured about 2 tablespoons of olive oil into the bowl, and then massaged the olive oil onto the cabbage. If you need more, add more. The olive oil, really gives the cabbage a great roasted flavor as it air fryers. Then sprinkle with salt.
Pour the cabbage into the air fryer basket (or on the tray if using an air fryer oven)
Set the temperature to 370 degrees F, for 5 minutes, after 5 minutes, shake the basket or use tongs and flip the cabbage. Add another 5 minutes (total air frying time is 10 minutes)
Plate, serve and enjoy!
