This is my son’s favorite meal, and it is quickly becoming mine since it requires very few ingredients and takes such little time, that it’s a perfect weeknight dish. I actually made it right before my son’s hockey game. So, if your kids are in sports, pin this for later, and better yet you can keep a stock of the ingredients on hand since there are so few of them. And you can always freeze the cheese. It would be so much cheaper than grabbing dinner out.
There are hundreds of recipes for macaroni and cheese for the Instant Pot, so today, I am trying my luck at baked mac and cheese, it was fabulous, my kids loved it and I love when they both eat a meal together, (who wants to make 4 meals every night, not this momma!) and I try to avoid the ones with tons of ingredients.
This is a great recipe to make for potlucks, family reunions, BBQs, graduation parties and this is one of my kid’s favorite for Easter dinner, I plan on serving it up for Thanksgiving this year This dish makes a mean Mac & Cheese.
Once I got my Instant Pot, I never purchased the Kraft Mac & Cheese again, with that distinctive yellow cheese packet.
Here are my three favorites, at the time of the post.
GoWise Air Fryer, I think this is the best model to get you into the air fryer world, it doesn’t mean that you are going to stick with it, but it’s a solid machine, large enough for a chicken and inexpensive enough that you can upgrade later, and use it for sides.
Secura Air Fryer: This is MY first air fryer, I have had it since (Amazon tells me I ordered it on August 23, 2017), It is a fabulous machine, and I always recommend it to my facebook group, when they are on sale because it works. And to be honest, once you get into the air fryer world, you want another one for side dishes (and, I’m so hoping that is true and not just me)
Omni Air Fryer, By Instant Pot: This is my newest addition and I am in love. There are a lot of things I love about this, but the main ones are that I can make a LOT of food for my family, and since I have 2 teenage boys, I really need the same. Also, this was my first air fryer oven, so I am loving making cookies, pancakes and other food that needed a flat surface.
Don’t Forget To Pin—
This is a great classic dish, that my whole family loved. The creamiest of the pasta was unreal, and my kids loved that they had their own dish.
- 1/2 pound elbow macaroni
- 3 tablespoon butter
- 3 tablespoon flour
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 12 ounces evaporated milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Start by making the pasta, as directed on the package, once the pasta is cook, drain the pasta and set aside.
Use the same saucepan and melt the butter, mix in the flour, onion powder, salt, pepper, and dried thyme.
Then mix in the evaporated milk, continue to mix, until it starts to become thick, about 5 minutes, keep on stirring so the mixture doesn't burn.
remove from the burner, as you don't want anymore cooking. Mix in the shredded cheese and then mix in the pasta, toss to coat.
Mix really well.
Pour into greased casserole dishes or ramekins.
Set into your air fryer oven and set the temperature to 320 degrees F for 5 minutes.
Plate, serve and enjoy!
