Description

Creamy, sharp-cheddar Outback Steakhouse mac and cheese made easy in the air fryer. This copycat side dish is rich, cheesy, and ready in about 30 minutes with simple pantry staples.

Ingredients

  • cups dry elbow or small macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, stir together the macaroni, water, heavy cream, about three-quarters of the cheddar, dry mustard, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
  • Pour the mixture into an air-fryer-safe pan or oven-safe casserole dish. Set the pan in the air fryer basket, set the temperature to 360°F, and cook for 15–20 minutes.
  • When the mac and cheese is about halfway through cooking, stir in the remaining cheddar so it melts through.
  • Remove, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
