- Butter: Use unsalted butter to make your mozzarella sticks not too salty.
- Baby Spinach: Using baby spinach will make your mozzarella sticks tender.
- Minced Garlic: Add some flavor to the egg rolls.
- Mozzarella String Cheese: For best results, use full-fat string cheese.
- Egg Roll Wrappers: Found in the produce aisle of your local grocery store, next to the tofu.
- Cooking Spray: Helps crisp up; remember never to use an aerosol spray
How To Make Air Fryer Spinach Mozzarella Sticks
Add your butter to a small skillet, add the spinach, garlic, and statute until the spinach is wilted and cooked for about 5 to 8 minutes. Remove the spinach from the heat, and let cool.
Add about one teaspoon of spinach to each egg roll, add your cheese stick, and roll up the egg rolls.
Add your egg rolls into the air fryer basket, and spray them with cooking spray. (Place them seam side down)
Set the temperature to 375 degrees F, air fryer setting, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until brown. For best results, flip about halfway during the cooking process.
Plate, serve with the marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese.
Pro Tips:
Spinach: Make sure that you drain your spinach well. Otherwise, your egg rolls will become soggy.
Crowding: For best results, do not crowd your air fryer basket. Otherwise, you will have unevenly cooked mozzarella sticks. Leave plenty of space around the mozzarella sticks so that the air can flow around the mozzarella stick, cooking it up perfectly.
Flipping: Depending on what air fryer you own, you may need to flip your mozzarella sticks halfway through the cooking process.
Making Mozzarella Sticks In An Air Fryer Oven: If you are making these in an air fryer oven, place the mozzarella sticks on the bottom shelf so that the inside and outside can get cooked up to perfection!
Overcooking: It’s important not to overcook your mozzarella sticks. This will result in mozzarella sticks that start to ooze out the filling. Check your mozzarella sticks frequently during the cooking process. Once they are golden brown, remove them from the air fryer.
Recipe Variations
Seasonings: Today, I went with a straightforward recipe with few ingredients. If you want to add some additional seasonings, some good ones are Italian Seasoning, Basil, Oregano, Onion Powder, or even Garlic Powder.
Crispier Texture: If you want these to be crispy, freeze the mozzarella sticks before assembling the mozzarella sticks. I personally like the melted cheese that oozes out with spinach! It’s so delicious!
