Remember the step-by-step directions and detailed ingredient list are below in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, as well as the nutritional information.

  • Butter: Butter is used to sauté the baby spinach and minced garlic, infusing the filling with a rich, buttery flavor.
  • Baby Spinach: Baby spinach serves as the main vegetable filling, providing a fresh and tender spinach flavor to the egg rolls.
  • Minced Garlic: Minced garlic is added to the sautéed spinach and butter mixture, enhancing the filling with aromatic garlic notes.
  • Egg Roll Wrappers: Egg roll wrappers are the outer casing for the spinach filling, and they become wonderfully crispy when air-fried, creating a delightful contrast in texture with the tender spinach inside.
  • Mozzarella String Cheese: Mozzarella string cheese is the core ingredient, providing the gooey, cheesy center of these sticks when they melt during cooking.
  • Cooking Spray: Helps crisp up; remember never to use an aerosol spray

Add your egg rolls into the air fryer basket and spray them with cooking spray. (Place them seam side down) Set the temperature to 375 degrees F, air fryer setting, and cook time for 8 to 10 minutes, or until brown. For best results, flip about halfway during the cooking process.

Air Fryer Spinach Mozzarella Sticks Recipe Tips

  • Spinach: Make sure that you drain your spinach well. Otherwise, your egg rolls will become soggy.
  • Crowding: For best results, do not crowd your air fryer basket. Otherwise, you will have unevenly cooked mozzarella sticks. Leave plenty of space around the mozzarella sticks so that the air can flow around the mozzarella stick, cooking it up perfectly.
  • Flipping: Depending on what air fryer you own, you may need to flip your mozzarella sticks halfway through the cooking process.
  • Making Mozzarella Sticks In An Air Fryer Oven: If you are making these in an air fryer oven, place the mozzarella sticks on the bottom shelf so that the inside and outside can get cooked up to perfection!
  • Overcooking: It’s important not to overcook your mozzarella sticks. This will result in mozzarella sticks that start to ooze out the filling. Check your mozzarella sticks frequently during the cooking process. Once they are golden brown, remove them from the air fryer.

Air Fryer Spinach Mozzarella Sticks Recipe Variations

  • Seasonings: Today, I went with a straightforward recipe with few ingredients. If you want to add some additional seasonings, some good ones are Italian Seasoning, Basil, Oregano, Onion Powder, or Garlic Powder.
  • Crispier Texture: If you want these to be crispy, freeze the mozzarella sticks before assembling the mozzarella sticks. I personally like the melted cheese that oozes out with spinach! It’s so delicious!

Storing

  • Refrigerator: If you have any leftovers, let them cool to room temperature and place them in an airtight container. They will last for about 2 to 3 days.
  • Freezer: You can quickly assemble these and place them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Then place the baking sheet into the freezer and free until the Air Fryer Spinach Mozzarella Sticks are frozen solid. Remove and then put into a freezer-safe container or a freezer bag. They will last for about 2 to 3 months. You can quickly cook them from frozen, set them into the air fryer at 400 degrees F, air fryer setting, and cook for 7 to 10 minutes.
  • Reheating: Place any leftover mozzarella sticks into the air fryer, set the temperature to 400 degrees F, air fryer setting, and cook for a couple of minutes until the mozzarella sticks are warmed.
