Air Fryer Mahi Mahi –Mahi-mahi is a delicious fish that you can prepare in different ways. It’s full of flavor and cooks quickly, making it perfect for any meal or occasion.  Cooking it with an air fryer will make the process even easier!  Learn how to prepare this tasty dish at home by reading on!

Air Fryer Mahi Mahi

Air Fryer Mahi Mahi, also knowns as Dorado, or even dolphinfish is a widely popular dish. The air fryer produces a tender dish of mahi-mahi, which is delicate, flaky, and fantastic when done right.

Today, I made a simple lemon, butter, and garlic sauce, which I spooned over it. It made for a luxurious dinner. This dish could have been served in an upscale restaurant but was prepared in my air fryer.

Whether you use fresh or frozen mahi-mahi, the recipe will produce the same results.

Easy Mahi Mahi Air Fryer Recipe

My mother would make a different seafood dish for us each week. My uncles worked as fishermen, and they would often bring over whatever they caught for the day. Needless to say, we ate a lot of seafood, and my mother was great at adapting every fish to a new and flavorful dish.

Mahi Mahi is a straightforward fish to prepare and season. If you are not familiar with Mahi-Mahi, here is some information on the fish.

What Is Mahi-Mahi

The most popular question asked about Mahi Mahi is, is it a dolphin? The name in Hawaiian Mahi-Mahi means Coryphaena hippurus, which in Spanish translates to a dolphin. Many people mistakingly believe that Mahi-Mahi is a dolphin.

If you have never eaten Mahi-Mahi, you are probably wondering what does mahi-mahi taste like? It is a sweet and mild fish with a firm texture, and it is a delicious fish.

You can prepare it in several ways. Today’s version is via the air fryer. Served with a sauce, I prepared in the skillet, and you can use this meat in the same way you would use other white fish in tacos, casseroles, and eaten.

Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Mahi Mahi

  • Mahi Mahi Fillets (Fresh or Frozen)

How Long To Cook Frozen Mahi Mahi In Air Fryer

If you want to know how to cook mahi mahi from frozen: You will be cooking the frozen mahi-mahi at the same temperature as the fresh mahi-mahi. You only need to add a few minutes to the cooking time.

Remember to check the fish frequently, and remove it once you can flake it. Otherwise, the fish will dry out.

Can you cook fish in the air fryer?

Start by patting the fish dry and then liberally at salt and black pepper on both sides of the fish. Then add the fish to the air fryer basket, set its temperature, and air fry until you can flake it with a fork.

The temperature will depend on the specific fish that you are air frying. The general temperature is about 350 to 400 degrees F, depending on the thickness of the fish.

How long does it take to cook frozen mahi mahi in the air fryer?

All you need to do is put the frozen (keep it frozen) fish in the air fryer basket, set the temperature to 380 degrees F, and set the timer for 10 to 12 minutes.

Flip halfway, and make sure it’s fully cooked before removing the fish from the air fryer basket.

Is air fried mahi mahi healthy?

Yes, since it’s not frying in oil, it is relatively healthier than frying the fish. The air fryer does not use much oil in the cooking process. Therefore you can enjoy your air fryer fish without the guilt, the calories, or the fat.

Can you put aluminum foil in an air fryer?

Yes, it is safe to use. The critical thing to remember is that the foil needs to be weighed down to not fly into the heating element.

Otherwise, this will become a fire hazard.
