Air Fryer Calamari–truly amazing. Today, I used a recipe I found on the Internet for Copycat Olive Garden Air Fryer Calamari and adapted it for the air fryer.
Everyone loves Fried Calamari. I have been eating it since I was a small child. Growing up in an Italian household, it was always served. And my mother would make a huge batch on Christmas Eve for the seven fishes. My youngest son, Jason, who is the pickiest eater in the entire world, loves calamari, remind you he will not eat chicken but can down an entire plate of Air Fried Calamari. Go figure.
When you go to Olive Garden aren’t you waiting to order a crisp plate of fried calamari? There is nothing like the crunch of a great appetizer, after a long week of work or school.
Today I only used calamari rings, but you can air fry the entire calamari (squid)
The question I am often asked is, Can You Fry Calamari in An Air Fryer? And, of course, the answer is YES! And it’s easy and absolutely scrumptious.
How To Make Calamari in An Air Fryer
Ingredients:
- Fresh, Cleaned Calamari
- All-Purpose Flour
- Milk
- Egg
- Panko
- Salt
- Black Pepper
- Olive Oil Spray
Simple Directions:
- Spray your air fryer basket with olive oil.
- Clean the calamari. If you purchased it whole, you would need to slice it into rings, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Set one bowl with flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- In the other bowl, mix the egg and milk.
- Then the last bowl, add the panko.
- Dip your cleaned, sliced calamari into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the panko mixture.
- As your bread, the calamari, place them into the air fryer basket.
- Set the temperature to 400 degrees F for about 6 minutes, flipping halfway during the air frying process.
- Plate, serve, and enjoy!

How Do You Cook Frozen Calamari In An Air Fryer?
Simply place the frozen calamari into an air fryer basket and air fry for about 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees F, air fryer setting. I usually shake the basket a few times during the cooking process.
