Air Fryer, Copycat McDonald’s Sausage McMuffin
This is one of my children’s favorite breakfast, and it is so easy to make. I have been making it for years, and today, I thought I would make it in the air fryer.
I have already made two of the components separately, so today, I combined them, and they worked together beautifully. One of thing that I will say, is that during the last minute or two of melting the cheese, you need to watch the air fryer since the cheese will go from melting to burnt in a matter of seconds, so as soon as you see the cheese start to melt, remove the sandwich.
I have tried without success to reheat frozen sausage sandwiches but the bread always gets soggy (everyone always asks me this, so I thought I would mention this). You can make these ahead of time, and freeze them, just remember to wrap them up well, and then follow the guidelines of your microwave for reheating them.
Start by making the sausage, in your air fryer (either your basket or tray) place the sausages, and set the temperature to 400 degrees F, for 5 minutes, (air fryer setting),
after the 5 minutes, flip and air fry for another 5 minutes (but note: in the last 3 minutes of cooking you are going to be adding the English Muffins)
Meanwhile, in a small box, mix the butter, (room temperature)
Use a pastry brush and brush it onto the muffins.
Then add the English muffins to the air fryer in the last 3 minutes of air frying
After the muffins are cooked, add the cheese and make a sandwich, by placing the English muffin down, then add the sausage,
and then one piece of cheese and then topping it with the other side of the English Muffin.
Plate, serve and enjoy!
