How To Make Air Fryer Cinnamon Raisin Bagel

bagel dough

Step 1: Prepare raisin bagel dough

In a large mixing bowl, mix the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Once the dough is mixed, add the cinnamon and raisins.

Step 2: Shape cinnamon bagels

Separate your dough into four balls. Shape each ball into a circle, then put your finger into the middle and create a hole. Use your hands to shape the bagel into a circle. As you make the bagels, place them into a greased air fryer basket or on a greased air fryer tray (both sprayed with cooking spray).

In a small bowl, crack an egg, add one tablespoon of water, and beat the egg and water. This is your egg wash.

Use a pastry brush to brush on the egg wash. Then, set the bagels into the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 5 minutes (air fryer setting). Flip and air fry for another 3 to 5 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS AIR FRYING?

If you have not heard of air frying, it’s one of the latest cooking methods using a countertop appliance.

The air fryer works because hot air circulated all around the food, cooking it up perfectly. It crisps food without using much oil.

HOW IS AIR FRYING HEALTHIER?

Since you do not use a lot of oil, it’s healthier than other cooking methods — especially deep frying. Air frying will also save you a lot of calories and fat intake.

Air Fryers are a great option for people on a low-fat diet. Plus, this cinnamon raisin bagel recipe is healthier on its own because it uses Greek yogurt. So, the combination of air frying and ingredients is perfection!

WHY DO YOU USE GREEK YOGURT?

Greek yogurt is used for this recipe because it is thicker and richer than regular yogurt. This gives the cinnamon bagels a fantastic texture. If your dough ends up sticky, you can use more self-rising flour or less yogurt.

I personally like either Fage or Stonyfield yogurt, but you can make this cinnamon raisin bagel recipe with any Greek yogurt you like.

HOW DO YOU SHAPE BAGELS?

When I am making bagels with my family, we use our hands. We do not roll anything. My kid’s foolproof method is to create a dough ball and then stick their finger through it to make the hole. Easy and effective.

WHY DO YOU USE AN EGG WASH?

Using an egg wash is optional when making this cinnamon raisin bagel recipe. It gives the bagels a nice golden brown crust. If you skip the eggwash, it just won’t have that.

MY BAGELS DO NOT AIR FRY (COOK) IN THE MIDDLE.

This is a common problem. My two thoughts are either that the cinnamon bagels are too thick so the air fryer couldn’t cook the center. Or, you did not flip them halfway.

HOW DO YOU STORE LEFTOVER AIR FRYER 2 INGREDIENT BAGELS?

If you do not finish them all in one sitting, place them into an airtight container and put them in the refrigerator. They should last about 2 to 3 days. You can toast them when you are ready to eat, or enjoy them cold — it’s up to you. I reheat mine in the air fryer, then add butter or jam as a treat.

CAN YOU FREEZE RAISIN BAGELS?

Yes! Let the cinnamon raisin bagels cool to room temperature, then individually wrap them in plastic wrap and place them in the freezer. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight.

HOW TO MAKE SELF-RISING FLOUR

If you do not have self-rising flour, here is a simple recipe.

The most important thing to remember is to mix the self-rising flour just before using it, so the baking powder is distributed throughout the flour.

DO I TOAST THESE AIR FRYER BAGELS?

Yes, you can use your air fryer to toast them — no need for a toaster when you have your air fryer.

Simpy cut the bagel in half and place it into the air fryer basket. Set the temperature to 350 degrees F and set the air fryer for 2 to 5 minutes.
