What is Chicken Parmesan?
Chicken Parmesan or Chicken Parmigiana is an Italian dish that is traditionally made with breaded chicken breasts, then covered with marinara sauce, and then covered in shredded mozzarella cheese.
They are usually baked or deep-fried, depending on if you are making a home version or eating out. Served either as a side to a big plate of pasta or as a Chicken Parmesan Sub.
Truth, while everyone thinks this is a dish they would find in Italy, it’s not in Italy you would either find the same dish with either veal or eggplant. Chicken Parmesan is nowhere to be found. This is truly an American-Italian Dish.

Today, I made a quick lunch for my family, using ground chicken, and then made it exactly how I make my Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan Recipe.
This made for a great Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan Sub, served it with some more Mariana sauce, and smothered the sub with even more shredded mozzarella cheese. It was delicious, and I got the two thumbs from my kids.

Chicken Parmesan Meatballs Recipe Using Air Fryer
While you can easily make these in a skillet, this recipe uses my air fyrer, They are quickkly peprpared and cook up gorcerously without a lot of oil.
They are perfect. If you have trouble with them sticking, either place them into a baking pan (as I did, any pan that will in your air fryer that can go into the oven will work) or use a piece of parchment paper.
This recipe will also work with ground turkey or beef.
Some Pro Tips For Making Chicken Meatballs
- You can switch this recipe out for ground turkey or ground beef.
- Shake the basket several times during the cooking process, or use a pair of tongs to flip the meatballs, this way, both sides cook up perfectly.
- Watch the air fryer while the cheese is cooking up; depending on the model of air fryer you own, it will go from undone to burnt in seconds.
Air Fryer Chicken Meatballs Temperature
I like to use a temperature of 350 degrees F, an on-air frying setting to cook the meatballs. If I am using beef, I do increase the temperature so that the beef cooks up quicker.
But, after you add the cheese, I do like to reduce the temperature. If you keep the temperature at 350 F, you will find your cheese burnt.
Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan Meatballs Cooking Time
The cooking time will actually depend on two things, which is why I recommend using a meat thermometer to make sure your Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan Meatballs are perfectly cooked.
But they will depend on what air fry you own. I have made this recipe in The Instant Pot Vortex, The Instant Pot Crisp Lid, and Cosori Air Fryer. The cooking time is about a minute for each. But it will also depend on how big your meatballs are. The larger the meatball, the more cooking time it will need.
What To Serve With Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan Meatballs
This is a very versatile dish; you can either serve it with a KETO-friendly option as Air Fryer Zucchini Noodles or alone as an appetizer.
But if you are looking for a great Italian Feast, serve this up with a healthy plate of Instant Pot Italian Spaghetti and end the meal with my homemade Air Fryer Cannolis.
How To Make Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan Meatballs in The Oven
This recipe can be easily converted to a regular oven recipe, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, and bake for about 20-25 minutes.
In the last 4 minutes of cooking, add the marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese, and return to the oven until the cheese is melted.
