How To Make Easy Air Fryer Egg Toast

Step One: Start by using the back of a spoon and make a small indention. Make an indentation in the center of each slice of bread for best results.

Step Two: Preheat the air fryer temperature to 350 degrees F for 3-5 minutes. You can butter the bread for added flavor, but you don’t need to. Place your bread into the preheated air fryer basket.

Step Three: Crack the egg into the center of the bread with the space carved out for it. Set the cook time for 3- 5 minutes.
(Optional) Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top, then air fry again for a minute or two (you just want the cheese to melt), and then remove.

Easy Air Fryer Egg Toast Recipe Tips
- Create a Deep Indentation: Make a generous well in the bread so the egg stays in place while cooking.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheating ensures the toast cooks evenly and gets nice and crispy.
- Use Fresh Eggs: Fresh eggs hold their shape better and cook more evenly in the toast.
- Optional Butter or Oil: Lightly brushing the bread with butter or olive oil adds flavor and extra crispiness.
- Check Doneness: Cooking times may vary slightly—adjust based on how runny or firm you like your egg.
- Add Toppings After Cooking: Sprinkle herbs, cheese, or spices after air frying to prevent burning.
- Experiment with Bread Types: Try sourdough, whole wheat, or multigrain for different flavors and textures.
Storing and Reheating Instructions
- Storing Instructions: Store leftover Egg Toast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1–2 days. For best texture, keep the egg separate if possible.
- Reheating Instructions: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 2–3 minutes until warmed through and the toast stays crispy. Alternatively, warm in a toaster oven for a similar result.

Easy Air Fryer Egg Toast Recipe Faqs
Can I use any type of bread? Yes! Sourdough, whole wheat, multigrain, or even white sandwich bread all work well. Just adjust cooking time slightly if the bread is thicker.
Do I need to preheat the air fryer? Preheating helps the toast get crispy and ensures the egg cooks evenly, so it’s recommended.
Can I make multiple slices at once? Yes, but make sure they fit in a single layer without overlapping for even cooking. Cook in batches if needed.
Can I use more than one egg per slice? It’s best to use one egg per slice to prevent overflow, but smaller quail eggs can work for mini variations.
Can I add toppings? Absolutely! Sprinkle cheese, herbs, spices, or even cooked bacon bits before or after cooking.
How do I store and reheat leftovers? Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1–2 days. Reheat in the air fryer or toaster oven at 350°F for 2–3 minutes.
Can I make this recipe vegan? Yes! Use a plant-based egg substitute and vegan cheese to create a vegan-friendly version.

Curious how you keep the bread from flying around inside?

I just tried the cheesy egg in my air fryer and I added bacon. The egg was soft and runny like I like them, but the cheese & bacon flew off & made a mess.
For the second egg I did the egg for 6 min. and finished the bacon & cheese in the microwave.
This one was more like a hard boiled egg, but I like to know what I did wrong with the first egg!
I believe I will make this again but with a liner.
Thank you for your input!
