Air Fryer Coconut Crusted Tilapia — A crispy, flavorful crust makes this Tilapia recipe perfect. The secret is in the air fryer!

This Air Fryer Coconut Crusted Tilapia is one of my favorite dinners for a typical Friday night fish fry. It is tasty and prepared really well with the help of the air fryer.
While I used Tilapia in this recipe, this recipe will work perfectly for any white fish, including cod, haddock, catfish, trout, Alaskan Pollack, bass, grouper, or even halibut. All of the white fish are great for air frying.

What is Tilapia?
People have strong opinions of tilapia; There seem to be a lot of controversies around tilapia, which is not my reason for posting this recipe.
Tilapia is white fish that was originally found in Africa, but now it s a farmed fish, although conversely around the fish. It is widely popular in the United States, and almost every grocery store sells it.
Tilapia is known for its low price and mild taste, and it’s very versatile when cooking or air frying it.
How to Air Fry Tilapia
Most recipes that you find for air fryer fish of any type will work with tilapia, which is why it’s widely sold in America; it is easy to cook.
Today, I made a crusted tilapia.
Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Coconut Crusted Tilapia:
- Unsweetened flaked coconut
- Coconut flour
- Sea salt
- Eggs
- Tilapia fillets
How To Make Air Fryer Coconut-Crusted Tilapia
Start by mixing the unsweetened flaked coconut, coconut flour, and sea salt together. Then in a small bowl, beat the eggs.
Then dip your fillets into the beaten eggs and then into the coconut mixture. Spray your air fryer basket or pan,
Place your fish onto the air fryer basket or pan, and spray it with olive oil. Slide your tray into the air fryer. Set your temperature to 400 degrees F.
Set your timer for 4 minutes, after 4 minutes, flip and air fry for another 4 minutes. Check to make sure your fish is fully cooked, and then plate, serve, and enjoy!

Can I use Frozen fish in Air Fryer?
Yes, frozen fish does amazing in the air fryer.
To air-fry most frozen fish, turn the air fryer to 400 degrees F, air fryer setting for 5-10 minutes, depending on how thick and big the pieces are. Flip halfway so both sides get evenly cooked.
What Other Fish Can I use for this Recipe?
You can use any white fish for this recipe, if you do not like tilapia, here are some of my favorite white fish suggestions, to change it out.

How long do you cook frozen breaded fish fillets?
The ideal temperature would be 375F for about 10-15 minutes. It will really depend on how thick the fish sticks or fillets are.
Remember to flip halfway to ensure that both sides are evenly cooked.

Yes, if you want to change this recipe out for KETO or Gluten-Free, this recipe will work amazing as well. For KETO or Gluten-Free diets use appropriate substitutions.

I tried this tonight and loved it! Cut recipe in half as we just cooked 2 pieces of fish. My coconut wasn’t fine and I think that would work better. I didn’t have coconut flour (was sure I did) but subbed almond flour and was great. Served with red jasmine rice and coconut curry stir-fry veggies. YUM!
