How To Make Air Fryer Chipotle-Lime Sticky Wings

Step One: In a large mixing bowl, mix the chipotle sauce, lime juice, lime zest, water, salt, and pepper.

Step Two: Place the chicken wings in the marinade, and coat them. Then place the chicken wings into the air fryer basket. Set the temperature for 380 degrees F, air fryer setting, for 12 minutes, after 12 minutes, using tongs to flip the chicken wings.
Step Three: Then increase the temperature to 400 degrees F, for another 5 minutes.

Air Fryer Chipotle-Lime Sticky Wings Recipe Tips
- Pat Wings Dry: Before marinating, pat chicken wings dry with paper towels. This helps them crisp up better in the air fryer.
- Marinate Longer for More Flavor: Let wings sit in the chipotle-lime marinade for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight, to really soak in the flavors.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Air Fryer: Arrange wings in a single layer to ensure even cooking and maximum crispiness. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Flip Halfway Through: Turning the wings halfway ensures both sides get crispy and coated in that sticky glaze.
- Adjust Heat to Taste: Add extra chipotle, cayenne, or hot sauce if you like your wings spicier.
- Optional Broil for Extra Crisp: After air frying, you can broil wings for 1–2 minutes to get an even crunchier finish.
- Serve Immediately: These wings taste best hot, fresh from the air fryer, with a squeeze of lime on top.

Air Fryer Chipotle-Lime Sticky Wings Recipe Faqs
Can I make these wings in the oven instead of an air fryer? Yes! Bake at 400°F for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until wings are crispy and cooked through.
How long should I marinate the wings? At least 30 minutes for basic flavor, but overnight marinating gives the wings a deeper, smoky-lime taste.
Can I make these wings spicier? Absolutely. Add extra chipotle in adobo, cayenne pepper, or a splash of hot sauce to the marinade.
Do I need to flip the wings while cooking? Yes, flipping halfway through ensures even cooking and a crispy coating on all sides.
Can I use frozen wings? Yes, but thaw completely before marinating and cooking for the best results.
How do I store leftovers? Place cooled wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven for best crispiness.
Can I double the recipe? Yes, but cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket and to keep wings crispy.
