Air fryer bacon wrapped chicken bites are the easy party appetizer that always disappears first. Bite-sized pieces of chicken breast get a smoky spice rub, a wrap of bacon, and a brush of BBQ sauce, then crisp up at 390°F in about 10–12 minutes. You get crispy bacon, juicy chicken, and a sticky glaze, with no frying and no greasy stovetop.

If you already love how crispy bacon gets in the air fryer, this recipe takes that crunch and wraps it around tender chicken. Serve them on game day, set them out at a party, or pile them on a plate for an easy dinner.

Why You’ll Love These Bacon Wrapped Chicken Bites
Easy to customize: swap the glaze, the spices, or even the protein.
Ready in about 35 minutes: 20 minutes to cut and wrap, then about 12 minutes in the air fryer.
Crispy outside, juicy inside: the bacon bastes the chicken as it renders, so the chicken breast stays moist.
Built for a crowd: one recipe makes about 24 bites, and you can wrap them ahead of time.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Exact amounts are in the recipe card below.

- Boneless, skinless chicken breasts: cut into 1-inch cubes so they cook at the same rate as the bacon.
- Regular-cut bacon: each slice cut in half. Thick-cut bacon won’t crisp before the chicken is done.
- Smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper: a simple smoky rub. You don’t need extra salt, because the bacon and BBQ sauce bring plenty.
- BBQ sauce: use your favorite store-bought sauce, or make a batch of my copycat Wendy’s BBQ sauce.
How Long to Cook Bacon Wrapped Chicken Bites in the Air Fryer
Air fry bacon wrapped chicken bites at 390°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping and brushing with BBQ sauce halfway through. They’re done when the bacon is browned and crisp and the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) inside. Air fryers vary, so check one bite with a thermometer at 10 minutes.
How to Make Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Chicken Bites

Step 1: Preheat. Heat the air fryer to 390°F for 3 minutes.
Step 2: Season. Pat the chicken cubes dry and toss them with the spice rub.

Step 3: Wrap. Wrap a half slice of bacon around each piece, overlapping the ends. Push a toothpick through the overlap and into the chicken so the bacon can’t unwrap.

Step 4: Air fry. Arrange the bites in a single layer with space between them, working in batches. Cook 5–6 minutes.
Step 5: Glaze and finish. Flip the bites, brush them with BBQ sauce, and cook another 5–6 minutes, until the bacon is crisp and the chicken reaches 165°F.
Brushing the sauce on halfway through, instead of at the start, keeps the sugars in the BBQ sauce from burning before the bacon crisps.

Tips for Crispy Bacon Every Time
Cut the chicken to an even 1-inch size. Larger pieces will still be raw in the middle when the bacon is done. Leave a little space between bites so hot air can reach every side; a crowded basket steams the bacon instead of crisping it. If your bacon is still soft at 165°F, give the bites another 1–2 minutes. Chicken breast this size can handle the extra time without drying out.
Flavor Variations
- Maple BBQ: Stir 2 tablespoons of maple syrup into the BBQ sauce for a sweet, smoky glaze. If you love that flavor, try my air fryer maple and brown sugar bacon.
- Buffalo: Skip the BBQ sauce and toss the cooked bites in buffalo sauce, like my air fryer buffalo chicken.
- Chicken thighs: Use boneless thighs for richer, more forgiving meat, like my air fryer chicken thigh bites. The cook time stays the same.
- Steak: Use sirloin cubes in place of the chicken for air fryer bacon wrapped steak bites.
What to Serve With Bacon Wrapped Chicken Bites
For a party spread, put out dipping sauces like my buffalo ranch dressing or LongHorn-style honey mustard, and serve them next to bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers. To make them a meal, add air fryer steakhouse potatoes or Cracker Barrel–style mac and cheese. For something lighter, go with air fryer tenderstem broccoli or a spicy Caesar salad.

Storing and Reheating
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days. To freeze, spread the cooked bites on a tray until solid, then move them to a freezer bag for up to 3 months. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 4–5 minutes to bring back the crisp. The microwave works too, but the bacon will soften.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to precook the bacon? No. Regular-cut bacon crisps in the same 10–12 minutes it takes the chicken to cook. Precooking only makes sense for thick-cut bacon.
Can I use chicken thighs instead of breasts? Yes. Boneless, skinless thighs cut into 1-inch pieces cook in the same time and stay even juicier.
How do I keep the bacon from unwrapping? Overlap the ends and push a toothpick through the overlap and into the chicken. Placing the bites seam-side down in the basket helps too.
Can I make these ahead for a party? Yes. Season and wrap the bites up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate them on a covered tray. Glaze and air fry right before guests arrive.
Can I make bacon wrapped chicken bites in the oven? Bake on a rack set over a sheet pan at 400°F for 20–25 minutes, brushing with sauce halfway through, until the bacon is crisp and the chicken reaches 165°F.
Why is my bacon chewy? Usually the basket was overcrowded or the bacon was thick-cut. Cook in smaller batches, use regular-cut bacon, and add 1–2 minutes if needed.

So easy and so good. I didn’t have any regular bacon, but I had some partially cooked bacon. I let it soften a bit before I wrapped the chicken. I reduced the temperature to 360°F in my Instant Pot Vortex 6. It turned out perfectly. The chicken was just done enough and plenty juicy and the bacon was perfect.
It will become a frequent meal at our house. Thanks!
