Air Fryer Twice Baked Potato-This is one of my favorite side dishes. I mean, who wouldn’t love a potato that is filled with cheese, sour cream, and bacon bits?
I also love this recipe because you actually do really little time. It needs such little attention from you that it basically just cooks by itself.
The first tip I will give you is to rub the potato with olive oil and season it with salt. Getting the potato skin crisp will give it all the more flavor. This is the secret not only to an amazing Twice Baked Potato But a Great Air Fryer Baked Potato.

The Key To Great Batch of Twice Stuffed Potatoes
The key to a great batch of twice-stuffed potatoes is to start with baked potatoes. And nothing goes that better than the microwave, oven, or air fryer.
I usually use the microwave or the air fryer if I have time. They make a great base for twice-baked potatoes.
Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Twice Baked Potatoes
- Russet Potatoes
- Sour Cream
- Bacon Bits
- Shredded Cheese
How to Make Twice Baked Potatoes
Start by either air frying, baking, or microwaving the potatoes. Once the potatoes are fully cooked, let them cool slightly.
Use a large spoon and scoop out the insides, leaving just enough of the potato skin, so it doesn’t fall apart.
Note: The key is that you want to leave enough potato meat to keep the potato skin firm so it does not fall apart when you stuff it.
Add all of the potato contents into a small mixing bowl, add the milk, sour cream, butter, bacon bits, and shredded cheese. Mix well.
Either use a fork or a potato masher. Do not over-mash it. Otherwise, it will be more like mashed potatoes in your loaded potatoes; you want lumps!
Stuff the potato with the potato mixture. Preheat the air fryer basket for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F, air fryer setting. Set in the air fryer basket for 5 to 8 minutes.
Note: I left the room around the potatoes, so they could perfectly cook up. The potato skins will get crispy from the hot air that floats around the potato skins!
How To Cook Twice Baked Potatoes in Air Fryer
Start by preheating your air fryer to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes. Then add your stuffed twice potatoes into the air fryer basket. Air fry for about 5 to 8 minutes. Only enough so the insides are warm and the cheese has melted. If you leave it for too long, the potatoes will harden.
How Long To Cook Twice Baked Potatoes in Air Fryer
That will depend on how large your baked potatoes are; the larger ones will need a longer air frying time than smaller ones, which is why I give a cooking range.
How to Reheat Twice Baked Potatoes in Air Fryer
If you have previously made air fryer (or even oven) twice-baked potatoes, you would like to reheat them.
Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes. Then add your potatoes and heat until warmed through.
How to Cook Frozen Twice Baked Potatoes in Air Fryer
If you find Frozen Twice Baked Potatoes, I usually follow the same instructions for this recipe, preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes, and then air fry for about 12-15 minutes.
Just check the air fryer frequently because the melted cheese will go from melted to burn in a couple of minutes.
Can you Make and Freeze These Air Fryer Twice Baked Potatoes?
Absolutely, just like the oven kind, simply prepared through the stuffing part. And then, place them on a baking tray, pop the tray into the freezer and let them freeze.
Once they are frozen solid, remove and place in a freezer bag. To cook them, follow the instructions above.
Cooking the Twice Baked Potatoes in the Oven
This is a great recipe that you can easily make in a regular oven, or even an air fryer oven.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F, and place them on a baking sheet, and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown.
What to Serve With Twice Baked Potatoes
This is a great appetizer, but you can also serve them as part of a dinner or lunch. I usually serve them with a large garden salad or a hot cup of soup.
Another great option would be to have an appetizer night at your house and serve many frozen and homemade appetizers! The kids love this!
