How To Make Air Fryer Roast Beef
- When making roast beef, I find that it helps if the meat is at room temperature, usually about 15 minutes.
- Start by preheating the air fryer. Meat is one of the few recipes that I preheat the air fryer for. But the meat will come out better, so turn the air fryer oven/basket on for 10-15 minutes at 390 degrees F, air fryer setting.
- Then rub the olive oil or butter all over the steak and season with salt and pepper. I also rubbed my Chimichurri Sauce over the roast.
- Set the roast beef in the air fryer for 15 minutes, then flip and air fry for another 15 minutes.
Note: For best results, use a meat thermometer, rare: 125 degrees F, Medium Rare, 135 degrees F, Medium 145 degrees F, Medium well done, 150 degrees F, well done, 160 degrees F.
Some Pro Tips:
- This recipe will work in any air fryer, including the Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Vortex, and all-over Air Fryer Ovens and Basket models. The cooking time might vary by a few minutes.
- For best results, check your roast beef with a meat thermometer.
- The size of your roast beef will be determined by what size air fryer you own, larger oven models, can accommodate a larger roast than smaller ones.
- You do not need any parchment paper or foil for this recipe.
- Let your roast beef rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This way, all of the juices can go into the center.
How Long Will Roast Beef Take To Fully Cook?
Knowing how long you should cook your roast beef can be challenging. Here are some helpful tips for knowing the right time to take it out of the air fryer.
The time it takes to get a perfectly cooked roast beef in the air fryer will depend on how large your roast beef is and what air fryer you are using. The smaller the roast, the less cooking time you will need.
For best results, use a meat thermometer, to get a perfectly cooked roast beef.
Roast Doneness:
The time and temperature for cooking meat vary depending on how you like your meat cooked. Some people like it rarer than others, while some like it well done. With a meat thermometer, you can easily use this chart as a guide;
- Rare: 120 degrees
- Medium Rare: 130 degrees
- A Medium: 135 degrees
- Medium Well: 140 degrees
- Well: 150 degrees
Resting Time For Meat:
Have you ever cooked a piece of meat, and it was dry, tough, or just not as juicy as you wanted it to be? Chances are, you may not have given the meat enough time to rest before serving.
Meat needs time to relax after cooking- this is called resting time. By letting the meat rest, you allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, which results in a more tender and juicy piece of protein. So after you cook your roast beef in the air fryer, let it rest for a few minutes. You will get a tender and delicious roast beef.
What is the difference between roast and air fry?
Knowing which setting to use on the air fryer is simple. If your air fryer has a roasting setting, you can use it, although you will soon find no difference between the air fryer setting and roasting setting.
