There is nothing better than a plate of Air Fryer Cheeseburger Sliders. Made with the same classic ingredients as a typical cheeseburger. These are amazing!
This is one recipe that my family agrees on; they love them. My teenagers can not eat enough of them. They are perfectly tender, delicious, and oh so good!
If you love a great family mail, this is one of my favorites, tender, juicy meat, with melted cheese falling, and I even added some dill pickles for some extra great flavor.

How To Make Air Fryer Cheeseburger Sliders
Crumble ground beef into a small pan or baking dish that will fit into the air fryer. Add garlic salt, onion flakes, and black pepper and mix well with your fingertips to combine.
Slice the sheet of rolls in half and set the top section aside—place bottoms of rolls into the air fryer basket on top of the aluminum foil.
Cook ground beef in the air fryer at 400°F for 5 minutes. Stir and continue cooking until ground beef has fully browned. (This took 10 minutes in my 1800 W air fryer.)
Remove the pan from the air fryer basket and drain any excess oil/liquid.
Add cubed cream cheese and barbecue sauce to the ground beef and mix well with a spatula to fully combine. Set aside.
Keeping the Hawaiian rolls attached, measure to determine how many will fit into the basket of your air fryer at once. Tear off any rolls that won’t fit and use in a second batch or set aside for another use. (My air fryer basket held a neat square of 9 rolls.)
Tip:
Line the basket of the air fryer with aluminum foil.
Slice the sheet of rolls in half and set the top section aside—place bottoms of rolls into the air fryer basket on top of the aluminum foil.
Cover the roll bottoms with about 1 cup of cheese. (You can also use cheese slices, but freshly grated cheese seems to melt faster.)
Pile ground beef mixture over the cheese and pat into an even layer.
Sprinkle additional cheese over the ground beef, if desired.
Place the tops of the rolls over the prepared sliders.
Brush melted butter over the top of the sliders using a pastry brush. Don’t be afraid to use all of the butter. Extra that runs off the sides will be caught by the aluminum foil, helping the butter soak in and crisp up the rolls’ bottoms.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
Place the basket in the air fryer and cook for 4-5 minutes, at 400 degrees F, air fryer setting, until the cheese has melted and the tops are browned, and the sliders are heated through. If needed, cover with aluminum foil at the end of the cooking time to prevent the tops from getting overly browned while the cheese is still melting.
Pro Tips:
- Grated cheese is a bit easier to spread evenly and melts more quickly than sliced cheese.
- Presumably, you’re working with a hot ground beef mixture, which aids in melting the cheese layers. If the ground beef mixture is not hot, I would recommend heating it before adding to the sliders OR use the method of first melting the cheese onto the bottom rolls before adding top layers (like in the Air Fryer Leftover Thanksgiving Dinner Sliders recipe).
- Use whatever type of cheese is your favorite for these cheeseburger sliders.
- You can add sliced pickles to the sliders before cooking in the air fryer or serve them on the side so that people can add them if they like.
- Pre-cooked bacon would also be a yummy addition to these sliders.
- The cream cheese and barbecue sauce added to the ground beef mixture really adds creaminess and flavor and helps bind the mixture together, making it easier to cook and EAT these sliders.
The Best Rolls for Sliders
Today, I used a great batch of King’s Hawaiian Rolls, which are perfect for these burgers, but any slider rolls will work. YOu can even get Gluten-Free. Some of my favorite Slider Buns are:

The Best Ground Beef for Cheeseburger Sliders
I would recommend a 90/10 or another lean meat option. Otherwise, the fat content in your hamburgers will lead to a soggy mess.
If you only have fatter meat, drain it really well, before you continue with the recipe.
Can I Make these Ahead?
This is a great recipe to make ahead, although I would not recommend assembling the sandwiches until you are ready to melt the cheese. Something is amazing about freshly melted cheese that will make your taste buds run rampant.
So, air fry your meat, but wait for the day you want to assemble the Air Fryer Cheeseburger Sliders, and then serve warm.
