Pro Tips For The Best Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken Recipe

To help you achieve the best results when making Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken, consider the following pro tips:

  • Slice the chicken evenly: When cutting the chicken into bite-sized pieces, aim for uniform sizes to ensure even cooking. This will prevent some pieces from overcooking while others are undercooked.
  • Marinate for optimal flavor: Allow the chicken to marinate in the sauce for at least 30 minutes or longer if possible. This will allow the flavors to penetrate the meat, resulting in a more flavorful and tender chicken.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Just like with any air frying recipe, preheating the air fryer is essential. This helps create a hot environment from the start, promoting better browning and crispiness.
  • Shake or flip halfway through cooking: To ensure even cooking and achieve a crispy exterior on all sides, shake the air fryer basket or flip the chicken pieces halfway through the cooking time. This helps to promote even browning.
  • Thicken the sauce if desired: If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can mix a little cornstarch with water to create a slurry and add it to the Mongolian sauce during the cooking process. This will help thicken the sauce to your desired consistency.
  • Garnish with care: When adding garnishes such as chopped green onions or sesame seeds, sprinkle them over the finished dish before serving. This adds a fresh and visually appealing touch.
  • Serve with rice or noodles: Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken pairs well with steamed rice or noodles, allowing you to enjoy the delicious sauce alongside the tender chicken.

By following these pro tips, you’ll be on your way to creating an exceptional Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken that is flavorful, tender, and irresistibly delicious. Enjoy the balance of savory and sweet flavors in every bite!

Can I use chicken breast instead of chicken thighs for Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken?

Yes, you can use chicken breast instead of chicken thighs if you prefer. However, remember that chicken breast tends to be leaner and can dry out more easily. To prevent this, you can marinate the chicken breast for a longer period to help keep it moist during cooking.

Can I double the recipe for a larger batch of Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken?

Yes, you can double the recipe to make a larger batch of Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken. However, be mindful of not overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure proper air circulation and even cooking. If needed, cook the chicken in multiple batches.

Can I use low-sodium soy sauce for Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken?

Yes, you can use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer to reduce the sodium content in the dish. It will still provide the savory flavor without excessive saltiness.

Can I make Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken ahead of time?

While Air Fryer Mongolian Chicken is best enjoyed fresh, you can prepare the marinade in advance and let the chicken marinate for a few hours or overnight in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to cook, simply transfer the marinated chicken to the air fryer and follow the recipe instructions.

Can I add vegetables to the air fryer with the chicken?

Absolutely! Adding vegetables like sliced bell peppers, onions, or snap peas to the air fryer with the chicken can create a delicious one-pot meal. Just be mindful of the cooking time required for the vegetables to ensure they’re cooked to your desired tenderness.

How To Reheat Mongolian Chicken in Air Fryer

The best way to reheat this meal would be to place it in a microwave-safe dish. Place the dish into the microwave, microwave at 50% power for 3 to 4 minutes, and stir halfway.

If you do not own a microwave or wish to reheat in the air fryer, place the leftover chicken (without the sauce) and reheat for 3 to 5 minutes at 330 degrees F, air fryer setting.
