Step Three: Pour your batter into the prepared pan, and then place it into the air fryer. Set the temperature to 320 degrees F, set cook time for 12-15 minutes.
Air Fryer Pumpkin Pie Squares Recipe Tips
- This recipe can be prepared in any Air Fryer, whether basket or oven model. I have also cooked these in the Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Vortex, Instant Pot Crips Lid and the Mealthy Lid. The recipe will remain the same, the cooking time will vary.
- Use pumpkin puree, rather than pumpkin pie filling, as pumpkin pie filling is sweetened and already has spices in it.
- Do not over mix, otherwise you will end up with a dense batch of pumpkin squares.
- Use a thinner pan, this way the entire cake will cook up. A thick pan will not fully cook into the center. See my recommendations below.
- Let the pumpkin pie squares cool down completely before frosting them.
- You can either serve these warm or at room temperature.
Air Fryer Pumpkin Pie Squares Recipe Faqs
Can I use fresh pumpkin instead of canned pumpkin puree? Yes, you can use fresh pumpkin, but make sure to cook and puree it until smooth. Canned pumpkin puree is convenient and has a consistent texture.
How do I store leftover pumpkin pie squares? Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. You can also freeze them for longer storage; just wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer-safe container.
Can I make this recipe gluten-free? Yes, you can substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend. Make sure the blend you use includes a leavening agent for the best results.
What can I use as a substitute for eggs? For an egg substitute, you can use 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce, 1/4 cup of mashed banana, or a flaxseed egg (1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed mixed with 2.5 tablespoons of water).
How can I tell when the pumpkin pie squares are done? The squares are done when they are set in the center and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean or with just a few crumbs attached.
Can I add nuts or chocolate chips to the batter? Absolutely! Feel free to fold in chopped nuts or chocolate chips for added texture and flavor.
How do I reheat the pumpkin pie squares? To reheat, place the squares in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for about 3-5 minutes until warmed through. You can also microwave them for about 15-30 seconds.
What can I serve with pumpkin pie squares? These squares pair well with whipped cream, caramel sauce, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious treat.
