How To Make Dorito Chicken Strips
Making chicken tenders with Doritos in the air fryer is super easy. Follow my step-by-step instructions to enjoy crispy tenders that are perfect for any occasion.
Step 1: Prepare the egg mixture
Start by beating the egg and milk together in a large bowl.
Step 2: Crush the Doritos
Crush your Doritos into small pieces and place them in a separate bowl.
Step 3: Coat the chicken
Dip the chicken tenders into the egg and milk mixture, letting any extra drip off. Then, coat the chicken in the crushed Doritos, and don’t forget to shake off any excess.
Step 4: Air fry (or bake)
Place the coated chicken tenders in a greased air fryer tray or basket, and set the timer for 7 minutes at 350 degrees F. When the timer goes off, give them a flip and set it for another 7 minutes. Once done, be sure to check the internal temperature of the Dorito chicken strips.
Note: To use your oven to make your Doritos chicken, preheat to 400 degrees F and bake for 15-18 minutes.
Step 5: Serve and enjoy
Plate and serve with your favorite side dish or dipping sauce of choice. Enjoy!
Chicken Tenders With Doritos Pro Tips
- Flavor Options: With so many different types of Doritos available, feel free to mix it up! Try using nacho cheese, cool ranch, or even spicy variants.
- Whole Chicken Breasts: You can easily use whole chicken breasts instead of tenders, just adjust the cooking time accordingly.
- Dorito Coating: For the best texture, crush the Doritos into fine crumbs using a rolling pin.
- Prep Ahead: If you’re short on time, you can prep the chicken tenders in advance and store them in the refrigerator.
- Avoid Overcrowding: This ensures even cooking and that all tenders get that crispy finish.
- Cooking Time: Every air fryer cooks a bit differently, check your chicken halfway through cooking. This way, you can make any necessary adjustments!
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the internal temperature of the chicken is 165 degrees F.
- Make it a Meal: Serve your Dorito chicken tenders with fresh veggies or a salad.
