Air Fryer Cheesy Dorito Bombs Recipe Tips
- Use Full-Fat Cheese: For the best melt and flavor, use full-fat cheese, as it tends to melt smoother and gives the bombs a creamy texture.
- Freeze the Cheese Bombs: Make sure to freeze the cheese bombs for at least 2 hours before air frying to prevent the cheese from melting out during cooking.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Air Fryer Basket: For even cooking, ensure the cheesy bombs are placed in a single layer without overcrowding in the air fryer basket. You can cook in batches if needed.
- Adjust for Crispiness: If you like your Dorito bombs extra crispy, you can increase the cooking time by 1-2 minutes, keeping an eye on them to avoid burning.
- Flavored Chips: While classic Doritos work great, try experimenting with different flavored chips like Cool Ranch for a new twist on your cheesy bombs.
Storing
- Storing: Once your Air Fryer Cheesy Dorito Bombs have cooled, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Make sure to place parchment paper between layers to prevent them from sticking together.
- Freezing: To freeze, arrange the cheese bombs on a baking sheet and freeze until solid, then transfer them to a Ziploc bag or airtight container. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Reheating: To reheat, place the cheesy Dorito bombs in the air fryer basket at 350°F for about 3-4 minutes until heated through and crispy. You can also reheat in the oven by placing them on a baking sheet and baking at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.

Air Fryer Dorito Cheese Sticks Recipe Faqs
Can I use any type of cheese for this recipe? You can use any cheese you like, but a firm cheese like mozzarella works best for a melty, stretchy texture. Avoid using soft cheeses, as they may not hold up well during frying.
Can I prepare the Dorito cheese sticks ahead of time? Yes! You can prepare the cheese sticks, bread them, and freeze them for up to 24 hours before cooking. Freezing helps maintain the shape and prevents the cheese from leaking out while air frying.
What can I serve with these cheese sticks? These cheesy Dorito sticks go great with a variety of dipping sauces such as ranch, marinara, or sour cream. You can also serve them with a side of fresh veggies or fries for a complete snack or appetizer.
Can I make these cheese sticks in the oven instead of the air fryer?
Yes! You can bake them in the oven at 400°F for about 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crispy. Keep an eye on them to avoid overbaking.
Are these Dorito cheese sticks spicy? The spiciness depends on the flavor of the Doritos you use. If you prefer a milder flavor, opt for regular nacho cheese Doritos or even plain chips. For extra heat, you can use spicy Doritos like the Flamin’ Hot variety.
Can I make these gluten-free? Yes, you can make these cheese sticks gluten-free by using gluten-free Doritos and a gluten-free flour alternative for the breading. Make sure all ingredients are certified gluten-free if you need to avoid gluten.
