I love a great burger, and since we had some flurries while I was making these, I decided to reach for my air fryer, and you know what, they came out fabulous! Easy and absolutely delicious.

If you have not tried burgers in the air fryer, they are quick and absolutely delicious, today I served my kids a side of Sweet Potato French Fries, but you can serve this with anything. However, my kids prefer either Air Fryer Steak Fries or Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes.

Pro Tips Air-Fried Bourbon Burgers

  • Choose the Right Ground Beef: Use ground beef with a higher fat content, like 80/20, for juicier and more flavorful burgers. Leaner beef can result in drier patties.
  • Mix Ingredients Gently: Combine the ground beef, seasonings, and bourbon BBQ sauce gently to avoid overworking the meat, which can make the burgers tough.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even cooking and a nice sear on the burger patties.
  • Form Even Patties: Shape the patties evenly and press a small indentation in the center of each to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
  • Use an Internal Thermometer: Check the doneness with a meat thermometer. The internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C) for safe consumption.
  • Add Cheese at the End: Add the shredded cheddar cheese in the last minute of cooking to ensure it melts perfectly without burning.
  • Toast the Buns: Lightly toast the burger buns in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes at 350°F (175°C) for added texture and flavor.
  • Let the Burgers Rest: Allow the cooked patties to rest for a few minutes before assembling the burgers. This helps retain the juices and enhances the overall flavor.
  • Customize Your Toppings: Elevate your bourbon BBQ burgers with a variety of toppings like crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, ripe tomato slices, pickles, or grilled onions.
  • Experiment with Sauces: While bourbon BBQ sauce is a fantastic choice, feel free to experiment with other sauces like spicy mayo, chipotle aioli, or garlic aioli for different flavor profiles.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Air Fryer: Ensure there is space between the patties in the air fryer basket to allow for proper air circulation and even cooking.
  • Monitor Cooking Time: Keep an eye on the burgers as cooking times may vary slightly depending on the size of the patties and the specific air fryer model.
