Air Fryer Soft Boiled Eggs come out perfect every time! So easy and fast to make in the air fryer, you don’t need to worry about watching the stove. Prepped and ready in under 10 minutes.
Air Fryer Soft Boiled Eggs
If you are doing keto and looking for easy breakfast recipes, soft boiled eggs in the air fryer is one of my favorites! We’ve got a soft spot for soft boiled eggs in my house. We love a runny yolk — my kids get such a kick out of dunking toast in it.
Soft boiled eggs are even sometimes referred to as “dunkie” eggs because you can dip or “dunk” a piece of toast into the yolk. It’s often called Soldiers and Eggs!
The whites stay firm, but the yolk becomes creamy and delicious when air fried. And while we love these for breakfast, there’s no reason you can’t enjoy them for a light lunch or snack. You could even use them to top a salad or sandwich for some extra protein!
I think the best part about this soft boiled eggs air fryer recipe is the fact that you don’t have to stand in front of the stovetop while they cook. Simply prep, add to the air fryer, and let it work its magic. It doesn’t get much easier than this.

How to Soft Boil Eggs in Air Fryer
Below, you’ll find my step-by-step instructions for making soft boiled eggs in air fryer. Everything moves pretty quickly once you get going.
Step 1: Place the eggs in a pan
Start by placing your eggs in an air fryer-safe pan — any oven-safe pan will work as long as it fits in your air fryer. You can technically even place the eggs directly in the basket, but I usually use a pan so they don’t roll around.
Step 2: Add to the air fryer
Place the pan with the eggs in it inside the basket.
Step 3: Air fry
Set the temperature to 250 degrees F and soft boil the eggs in the air fryer for 8 minutes.
Step 4: Cool in a water bath
When your air fryer soft boiled eggs are done, place them in a bowl of cold water to cool. Remember, you still want them to be hot, but not burning to the point where you can’t peel them.
Soft Boiled Egg in Air Fryer Pro Tips
- You may have to adjust your air fryer settings as each one is slightly different. I suggest that you start with 1 egg at 250 degrees F for 8 minutes to see how it comes out. If you want your eggs to be more or less done, make note of the timing. That way, the next time you go to make them, they’ll come out perfectly cooked!
- Room Temperature Is Best: Take your eggs out of the fridge and let them come to room temperature on the countertop for about 20-30 minutes.
- Other Air Fryers: This recipe will work for air fryer oven models, air fryer basket models, Ninja Foodi models, and the new Instant Pot crisp lids.
- Fresh chicken eggs will not work as well as regular store-bought eggs.
- This soft boiled egg air fryer recipe will work for other types of eggs like emu, ostrich, etc.
- Experiment With Doneness: Classic soft boiled eggs have a runny yolk, but you can always adjust the cooking time for different levels of doneness. Try leaving the soft boiled eggs in the air fryer for a longer time for a firm yolk, or a shorter time for an extra runny one.
Air Fryer Soft Boiled Eggs Pro Tips
Yes, it’s safe to air fry soft boiled eggs. In fact, you aren’t boiling the eggs when you make them in the air fryer as there is no water needed! The hot air will circulate around them and mimic the same temperature as boiling water, which is why it works.
Remember that it depends on your air fryer model and the size of your eggs. I usually start with around 8 minutes per egg at 250 degrees F. Don’t be afraid to play around with the temperature and cooking times if needed!
Soft boiled eggs are partially raw, which means there’s a small chance you may get ill from them. That said, the risks are minimal. If you have a health condition, you may want to refrain from making this recipe. Always consult your doctor with any concerns.
While there are a few tools that you can purchase to remove the top of the egg, I typically just use a spoon.
You’ll get a perfect soft boiled egg in air fryer, that’s what will happen! But, in all seriousness, you can absolutely air fry an egg in its shell — that’s exactly what I did in this soft boiled eggs air fryer recipe and in my AIR FRYER HARD BOILED EGGS, just to name a few. It’s perfectly safe to air fry an egg in its shell.
Storage
Air fryer soft boiled eggs will last for a couple of days in the refrigerator. You can use your air fryer to reheat them too — about 3 minutes at 250 degrees F should be all you need.

Air Fryer Soft Boiled Eggs
Description
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Start by placing your eggs in an air fryer safe pan, 2 reasons I do this because you could just put them in. 1. I’m afraid they would break inside the basket since they roll so much. 2. They are easier to get when they are done.
- Place the pan with the eggs in it, inside the basket.
- Set the temperature to 250 degrees F for 8 minutes.
- When they are done, place them into a cup of cold water. Remember you still want the eggs hot, but not burning, so you can’t peel them.
- Plate, serve and enjoy!
