How To Make Air Fryer Frozen Calamari

frozen squid in an air fryer basket

Step 1: Preheat air fryer

Start by preheating your air fryer to 400 degrees F, air fryer setting. If you do not have a preheat button, turn your air fryer to 400 degrees for 3 to 5 minutes.

Step 2: Air fry calamari

Spread the calamari in the basket or on the tray, being careful not to burn yourself. Air fry calamari for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway during the cooking process.

Step 3: Serve

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!

Air Fryer Squid Pro Tips:

Crowding: For best results, do not crowd the air fryer basket. You want the frozen squid to crisp up, so leave plenty of space around your calamari. This way, the hot air can circulate properly. This will ensure that every piece is crispy!

Flipping: Depending on what air fryer you own, you may need to flip halfway during the cooking process.

Oil: This is a recipe that I have made several times through the years without any oil. But, if you want the calamari to be extra crispy, spray the breading with cooking spray.

Making These In the Air Fryer Oven: If you are using an air fryer oven, place the calamari on the lowest rack for the best results.

Breading vs. Non-Breading: These were prepared by using frozen breaded calamari. If you are not using breaded calamari, you will need to check the calamari during the cooking process to determine the correct timing.
