Remember the step-by-step directions and detailed ingredient list are below, in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, as well as the nutritional information.
- Flank steak: Seasoned flank steak, when air fried, makes for a great juicy and flavorful topping choice for the tostadas. You can also choose to use sirloin tip or any other cut of meat of your choice.
- Refried beans: Refried beans adds to the filling for the tostadas, and really helps balance out all the other flavors by bringing in its rustic flavor and slightly creamy texture.
- Taco seasoning: A generous sprinkle of taco seasoning adds the much needed flavor to the steak. You can use any other seasoning of your choice too (pssst, my homemade old bay seasoning is great!)
- Queso fresco: Queso fresco lends a nice creamy element to the tostadas. If you don’t have it, you can swap this for any other melty cheese of your choice.
- Cilantro: Freshly chopped cilantro is one of the best toppings you could have on these tostadas and practically on any other Mexican meal you’re trying out. It just adds a nice pop of color and freshness to the dish.
- Lime: Freshly squeezed lime juice can really brighten up and amp up the flavor of the tostadas and take them to the next level.
- Hot sauce: You can use Sriracha or any other hot sauce of your choice. This just lends a bit of heat to the dish.
- Tostadas: Crunchy tostadas form the perfect base for all your toppings to go on.
Olive oil: Olive oil acts as a nice vehicle for all the spices and seasonings to adhere to the flank steak, and gets it nice and juicy, just the way you would want it to be.
