How To Make Air Fryer Cherry Pie
Step One: If using frozen pie crusts, allow them to thaw slightly according to the package instructions. Place one crust in the bottom of a pie dish and gently press it into place.
Step Two: Spoon the cherry pie filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
Step Three: In a small bowl, beat an egg yolk with a splash of milk. Brush the egg wash over the top crust of the pie. This will give the pie a beautiful golden color as it bakes.
Step Four: Carefully place the pie dish into the air fryer basket. Air fry the cherry pie at 310°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Step Five: Once done, carefully remove the pie from the air fryer and let it cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy your homemade cherry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a delicious dessert!
Whole Air Fryer Cherry Pie Recipe Tips
- Choose the Right Pie Crust: Whether you use store-bought or homemade pie crust, ensure it’s chilled before placing it in the air fryer.
- Thaw Frozen Pie Crusts: If using frozen pie crusts, allow them to thaw slightly according to the package instructions to make them easier to work with.
- Use Fresh or Canned Cherry Filling: You can use fresh cherries (sweet or tart) or canned cherry pie filling.
- Egg Wash for a Golden Finish: Brushing the top crust with a mixture of egg yolk and a splash of milk helps give your pie a beautiful golden-brown color as it bakes.
- Golden Brown: The crust should be golden brown and the filling should be bubbling.
- Check for Even Browning: Air fryers can cook unevenly, so rotate the pie halfway through the cooking time to ensure an even golden crust.
- Let the Pie Cool: After air frying, let the pie cool for a few minutes to allow the filling to set. .
Storing
- Storing: Store your cherry pie at room temperature for up to two days by covering it loosely with plastic wrap or foil. For longer storage, refrigerate the pie for up to 5 days in an airtight container or tightly wrapped in plastic wrap.
- Freezing: If you want to freeze the pie before baking, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and foil, and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to bake, air fry it directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time. After baking, let the pie cool completely before freezing. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and foil, and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months, then reheat when ready to serve.
- Reheating: To reheat, place the pie in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for about 5-10 minutes to restore the crispiness of the crust and warm the filling. Keep an eye on it to avoid over-baking. Alternatively, you can reheat the pie in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes. This will help warm the filling and crisp up the crust for a fresh taste.
Whole Air Fryer Cherry Pie Recipe Faqs
Can I use frozen pie crust for this recipe? Yes, frozen pie crust works well for this recipe. Just allow it to thaw slightly before using, then follow the same steps as you would with fresh pie crust.
