Orzo In Bowl-Instant Pot Rice Pilaf

Pour the orzo into the Instant Pot Bowl, and saute for a couple of minutes. You are just looking for the orzo to slightly brown.

After about 2 minutes, pour the rice into the pot, pour the water, stir in the garlic powder, salt, black pepper, onion powder, paprika, and mix well.

Place your lid on the Instant Pot, making sure that the vent is sealed. And set the manual high pressure for 4 minutes.

Remove the lid, which should easily come off if the pressure is completely let down.  Mix in the dried parsley.

INSTANT POT, HOMEMADE RICE PILAF

WHY USE AN INSTANT POT TO COOK RICE?

The real reason and the only reason that you need it is that it’s super simple.  There is nothing better than a dump-and-go side dish made right in your Instant Pot.

This recipe can also be made in a saucepan on your stove, but then you have to watch it. So use your Instant Pot for any rice dish, and you will be a true believer.

WHAT KIND OF RICE AND PASTA SHOULD I USE?

A traditional Homemade Rice Pilaf is prepared with both long-grain white rice and orzo. But you can change that if you do not have one of the ingredients.

A common substitution for orzo is vermicelli noodles.

HOW TO STORE INSTANT POT HOMEMADE RICE PILAF

If you have any rice leftover, let it cool to room temperature, and then place the leftovers into an airtight container. Place the container into the refrigerator, where it will last between 2 to 3 days.

To reheat the leftover rice pilaf, add it to a microwave-safe dish or a small saucepan. You will need to add more liquid, either water or broth, to rehydrate the rice. Mix before serving.
