I’m like a kid when it comes to air fryers. So today, I used one of my favorites — the Ninja Foodi Grill — to make the most succulent and tender steak I’ve ever tasted.

If you haven’t seen this air fryer yet, it’s a grill and an air fryer all in one. It does everything that a standard air fryer would do, but it’s better because it has a grill feature. Don’t worry, it still air fries, roasts, bakes, and dehydrates.

I especially love the sear that the Ninja Foodi gives the steak. The grill/air fryer heats to 500 degrees F, meaning it gets as hot as a grill! And as you can tell by the pictures, it gives you excellent grill marks.

It was raining today, so I thought I would pull out my air fryer instead of grilling, and boy, am I glad I did!

What Is A Ninja Foodi Grill?

The Ninja Foodi Grill is one of the latest appliances to hit the market, and it’s a must-have for any cook.

With its unique design, the Foodi Grill makes cooking healthier, easier, and faster than ever. Here are just a few of the reasons why you need to get your hands on one of these fantastic grills!

  • All-Year-Round: It’s the perfect accessory for any grill fan. It’s guaranteed smoke-free, meaning you can enjoy your favorite dishes year-round!
  • Technology! It’s a high-tech way to cook food evenly and with perfect grill marks. Superheated cyclonic air circulation guarantees you a tasty meal every time!
  • Three Appliances In One. If you are looking for the ultimate flexibility, this grill, air fryer, and dehydrator combination are it. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Whether you’re a fan of steak or not, there’s no denying that it’s a delicious and hearty meal. But cooking it can be tricky — it can quickly be overcooked or undercooked. If you’re using a traditional grill, you must constantly monitor the steak to ensure it doesn’t get too charred on the outside while remaining raw on the inside.

When you make steak in Ninja Foodi Grill, it will cook up perfectly every time. The grill has a unique feature that ensures your steak comes out evenly cooked from edge to edge, so you’ll never have to eat another challenging, dry piece of meat again!

Step 1: Season the steak

Start by getting your steak to room temperature, about 20 to 30 minutes. This will get your steak to cook more evenly. Next, season your steak with either salt and pepper or add your favorite steak seasoning.

Step 2: Preheat the grill

Add your grill pan insert, then press the power button. Then hit the grill button. It will show you a preheat display. When the display unit tells you to add the food, place steaks onto the grill plate.

Step 3: Grill the steak

Grill for about 5 minutes, then flip the steak and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes. The total cook time will depend on how well you like your steak and the thickness of the steak.

Let the Ninja Foodi Grill steak rest for about 5 minutes before cutting it into it, which allows the juices to settle in the middle.

Pro Tips:

  • Smoking: To prevent smoking, trim some of the fat off the steaks.
  • Room Temperature: The key to an evenly cooked steak is that it is at room temperature before cooking.
  • Extra Seasoning: Add a dry rub to your steaks with a little bit of avocado oil or canola oil for extra flavor before grilling.
  • Extra Flavor: Marinate your steaks overnight in some Worcestershire sauce for great flavor.
  • Storage: Store leftover Ninja Foodi steak in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

What Sides Go Well With Ninja Foodi Steak?

Here are some of our favorite sides to serve with steak. So whether you’re looking for something simple like french fries or mashed potatoes or something more elaborate, we’ll have you covered!

Why Should Steaks Be Room Temperature?

If you’re one of those cooks who like to jump right in and start cooking, you may be making a big mistake. Steaks should always be at room temperature before cooking, and here’s why.

When you cook a cold steak, the inside will not have enough time to heat up, and it will be overcooked by the time the outside is properly cooked. This is because the outside of the steak will cook much more quickly than the inside.

Room-temperature steaks will cook all the way evenly through, so you’ll end up with a perfectly cooked piece of meat every time.

So next time you plan to cook a steak, remember to take it out of the fridge for about 30 minutes before air frying or cooking it!

How Long To Cook Steak In Ninja Foodi?

There’s nothing quite like a perfect steak. It’s something that takes time and practice to get just right, but it’s definitely worth the effort. So, how do you know when your steak is done? Well, there are a few things to look for.

The only way to truly know when your steak is done is by using a meat thermometer. Insert the meat thermometer into the thickest part of the steak. Refer to the temperatures on the cooking times chart below to determine how long to cook your steak.

Ninja Foodi Grill Steak Cooking Times Chart

According to the USDA Food Safety Commission:

  • Rare: 120 degrees F
  • Medium-Rare: 130 degrees F
  • Medium: 140 degrees F
  • Medium-Well: 150 degrees F
  • Well Done: 160 degrees F

Should I Use The Probe Thermometer that Comes with the Ninja Foodi Grill to Monitor the Temperature of the Steak?

You can easily use the temperature probe that comes with your Foodi to check on your Ninja Foodi steak before removing it from the grill! I personally use my meat thermometer, as I find it to be more accurate.

Why Should I Let My Steak Rest?

If you’re a fan of steak, then you know that taking the time to let it rest after cooking is crucial. But do you know why?

Steak is best when it’s cooked to the perfect internal temperature, and allowing it to rest allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

So next time you cook up a steak in Ninja Foodi, be sure to let it rest so that you can enjoy its delicious flavor and tender texture!

How To Cook Frozen Steak In the Ninja Foodi Grill

Frozen steak can be cooked using the bake or air fry functions. The bake function cooks the steak at a moderate temperature, while the air fry function cooks it quickly and evenly. Follow these steps to cook your frozen steak in Ninja Foodi:

  1. Preheat the grill to 375 degrees F.
  2. Add a single layer of frozen steaks to the grill.
  3. Cook for 12 minutes (for medium-rare).
  4. Remove from the grill and enjoy!
