If you are looking for a great and easy meal. In that case, this is one of my favorites, The air fryer does a great job at crisping up the Portobello Mushroom, and the Basil Mayonnaise sauce is amazing. The entire sandwich is awesome and relatively healthy!
Air Fryer Portobello Mushroom Burgers
It looks like a beef burger, but this is a meaty portobello mushroom, loaded with fresh vegetables and homemade basil mayonnaise, and served up on a hamburger roll. This is a great and easy dinner option!

Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Portobello Mushroom Burgers
- Portobello Mushrooms
- Balsamic Vinegar
- Olive Oil
- Pesto
- Mayonnaise
- Brioche Buns
- Sliced Tomatoes
- Fresh Basil
- Salt & Pepper
How To Cook Portobello Mushroom Burger Air Fryer

Place the mushrooms into a plastic bag, and set them aside. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, pesto, salt, and black pepper. Pour into the bag, zip it, and toss the rooms in the marinade. Marinade for 30 minutes on the counter. Toss every few minutes to make sure that the mushrooms are evenly coated in the marinade.

Preheat the air fryer to 370 degrees F. Place the mushrooms, stem side down into the air fryer’s basket, not touching. Air fry for 7 minutes, until mushrooms are tender. You may need to do this in batches.

While the mushroom burgers are air frying, prepare the sauce. Mix the mayonnaise and pesto in a small bowl.
To Plate: Place the mao on the bottom bun, top with the cooked portobello mushroom, and then add a slice of tomato and a few leaves of basil.
Plate, serve, and enjoy!

Although most portobello mushrooms come pre-washed it’s always a great idea to clean the mushrooms, before eating.
How To Clean Portobello Mushrooms:
- Remove the mushroom stem, if still attached, either use a knife and cut it off or twist it off with your fingers.
- Use a damp paper towel and wipe the dirt off the mushroom.
Never submerged the Portobello mushroom in water. Since it is porous, it will absorb all of the water.
