Air Fryer Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Step One: Prepare The Yeast Mixture

Start by adding the milk to a large saucepan over low-medium heat. Let the milk cool until it’s warm, about 100-110 degrees F. Mix in the honey and yeast, and let sit for 10-15 minutes until the yeast is activated and frothy.

Step Two: Form The Dough

Transfer the yeast mixture to a stand mixer or large bowl, slowly fold the melted butter, egg, and salt, then mix well. Slowly add in the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing after each addition of flour. Mix at medium speed until a dough has formed.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Pro Tips For Cooking Homemade Texas Roadhouse Rolls In Air Fryer

Here are some pro tips to ensure your homemade Texas Roadhouse Rolls turn out perfectly in the air fryer:

  • Use a kitchen thermometer to check the temperature of the milk before adding the yeast. It should be warm (around 110°F or 43°C), but not too hot, as this can kill the yeast.
  • When adding the flour to the mixture, start with 3 cups and add more as needed to achieve a smooth, elastic dough that is not too sticky. Adding too much flour can result in tough, dry rolls.
  • For best results, let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free area, such as a turned-off oven. Cover it with a damp towel or plastic wrap to keep it moist.
  • Preheat your air fryer before cooking the rolls. This will ensure that they cook evenly and have a crisp exterior.
  • Leave space between the rolls in the air fryer basket to allow for even cooking and browning.
  • Keep an eye on the rolls while they cook, as cooking times can vary depending on size and thickness. Adjust the cooking time to ensure they are cooked through and golden brown.
  • Brush the rolls with melted butter before and after cooking for added flavor and moisture.
  • Serve the rolls warm with whipped cinnamon butter, a signature element of the Texas Roadhouse experience.
