Remember the step-by-step directions and detailed ingredient list are below, in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, as well as the nutritional information.

  • Peaches: The star of the dish, fresh peaches bring natural sweetness and juiciness; choose ripe but firm peaches for the best flavor and texture.
  • Sugar: Granulated sugar enhances the natural sweetness of the peaches, helping to create a syrupy filling as they cook.
  • Flour or Cornstarch: A small amount of flour or cornstarch is a thickening agent, ensuring the peach juices form a nice, thick syrup during cooking.
  • Ground Cinnamon: Adds a warm, spiced flavor to the peaches, complementing their sweetness and adding depth to the overall taste.
  • Nutmeg (Optional): A pinch of nutmeg can introduce a hint of earthy spice, adding complexity to the flavor profile.
  • Old-Fashioned Oats: These provide the base for the crisp topping, offering a chewy texture and a nutty flavor when baked.
  • Brown Sugar: In the topping, brown sugar contributes a rich, molasses-like sweetness and helps create a crunchy texture.
  • Butter: Melted butter binds the oat mixture for the topping and adds richness, contributing to a crispy, golden crust.
  • Kosher Salt: A pinch of salt in the topping balances the sweetness and enhances the overall flavor of the crisp.

Air Fry:

Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F (175°C) if it requires preheating. Set Cook time for 15-20 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly. The exact time might vary depending on your air fryer model.

Check for Doneness:

Check the crisp around the 15-minute mark. If the topping isn’t quite golden brown, air fry for an additional 5 minutes. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.

Serving:

Remove the peach crisp from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes. This allows the filling to set a bit and the topping to crisp up further. Enjoy your peach crisp and warm, perhaps with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Recipe Variations

Experimenting with variations in your air fryer peach crisp recipe can bring a delightful twist to this classic dessert. Here are some creative ideas to try:

  • Nutty Topping: Incorporate chopped nuts such as almonds, pecans, or walnuts into the oat topping for added crunch and a nutty flavor.
  • Spiced Peach Crisp: Spice up your peach filling with a pinch of cardamom or ginger and cinnamon for a warm and aromatic twist.
  • Gluten-Free Crisp: Use gluten-free oats and a gluten-free flour blend to make the crisp topping suitable for those with gluten sensitivities.
  • Vegan Peach Crisp: Swap the butter in the topping for a vegan alternative like coconut oil or plant-based butter to cater to a vegan diet.
  • Tropical Peach Crisp: Mix some shredded coconut and diced pineapple with the peaches for a tropical twist.
  • Peach and Cherry Crisp: Combine halved, pitted cherries with the peaches for a sweet, slightly tart flavor combination.
  • Healthy Peach Crisp: Reduce the amount of sugar and butter in the recipe for a healthier version. You can also use honey or maple syrup as natural sweeteners.
  • Wholesome Topping: Add flaxseeds or chia seeds to the oat topping for extra fiber and nutrients.
  • Savory-Sweet Peach Crisp:  Introduce fresh herbs like basil or thyme into the peach mixture for a unique savory-sweet flavor profile.
  • Bourbon Peach Crisp: For an adult twist, add a splash of bourbon to the peach filling for a deeper, caramel-like flavor.
  • Chocolate Chip Topping: Sprinkle chocolate chips over the topping before air frying for a gooey, chocolatey touch.

Pro Tips Delicious Air Fryer Peach Crisp

Creating the best Peach Crisp in your air fryer can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Here are some pro tips to help you get the best results:

  • Choose the Right Peaches: Opt for ripe but firm peaches. Overripe peaches can become too mushy when cooked, while underripe ones won’t have as much flavor.
  • Pre-Treatment of Peaches: Toss them in lemon juice to prevent them from browning. This not only adds a nice zesty flavor but also preserves the vibrant color of the peaches.
  • The thickness of Peach Slices: Slice your peaches evenly to ensure consistent cooking. Slices that are too thick might not cook through, while very thin slices can become overly mushy.
  • Seasoning the Filling: Don’t be afraid to experiment with spices in your peach filling. Cinnamon is a classic, but nutmeg, ginger, or cardamom can add intriguing nuances to the flavor.
  • Creating the Perfect Crisp Topping: The ratio of butter to dry ingredients in your topping is key. Too much butter can make the topping greasy, while too little can dry it. Aim for a crumbly, sandy texture before cooking.
  • Don’t Overcrowd: Place the crisp in a dish that fits well in your air fryer and allows for proper air circulation. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking.
  • Cooking Time and Temperature: Adjust the cooking time and temperature based on your air fryer model. Check for doneness towards the end of the cooking time to prevent burning.
  • The crisp is done when the peaches are bubbly, and the topping is golden brown. The aroma is also a good indicator that your dessert is ready.
  • Let it Rest: Allow the peach crisp to cool for a few minutes after cooking. This resting period helps the juices to thicken and the flavors to meld.
  • Serving: Serve your peach crisp warm for the best flavor. It pairs beautifully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Storage: If you have leftovers, let them cool to room temperature, store them in an airtight container, place them in the refrigerator, and reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes to bring back the crispness of the topping.
  • Personal Touch: Feel free to add personal touches like a dash of vanilla extract to the peaches or a sprinkle of nuts or oats in the topping for added texture.

FAQ’s

What dish should I use in the air fryer for peach crisp? Use an air fryer-safe dish, like a ceramic or metal baking dish, that fits comfortably inside your air fryer basket. Make sure there’s enough room around the edges for air circulation.

Can I use canned or frozen peaches instead of fresh? Yes, both canned and frozen peaches can be used. If using frozen, let them thaw and drain any excess liquid to avoid a soggy crisp. Drain the syrup and reduce the added sugar for canned peaches since they are often pre-sweetened.

How do I know when the peach crisp is done cooking in the air fryer? The peach crisp is done with a golden-brown topping, and the peach filling is bubbly. Cooking times can vary depending on your air fryer model, so check a few minutes before the suggested cooking time ends.

Can I make the peach crisp ahead of time? While peach crisp is best enjoyed fresh, you can prepare it a few hours ahead and reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to crisp up the topping before serving.

How should I store leftover air fryer peach crisp? Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the air fryer or microwave before serving.

Can I make a gluten-free version of air fryer peach crisp? Absolutely! Substitute the regular flour with a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend and ensure your oats are certified gluten-free.

How can I prevent the topping from burning? If you notice the topping browning too quickly, you can place a piece of foil loosely over the top. Also, use a moderate temperature and closely monitor the cooking process.

What’s the best way to serve air fryer peach crisp? Peach crisp is delicious and served warm, often with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat.

Can I double the recipe in the air fryer? Due to space limitations in the air fryer, it’s best to cook in batches to double the recipe. Overcrowding can result in uneven cooking.

Is it necessary to peel the peaches for the crisp?  Peeling peaches is a matter of personal preference. The skin softens during cooking, but peeled peaches will give a smoother texture to the filling.
