What Are Pierogies?
Pierogies are traditional Polish dumplings made from unleavened dough and savory or sweet fillings. The most common fillings include mashed potatoes, cheese, sauerkraut, meat, or fruit. They are typically boiled or pan-fried and often served with toppings such as sour cream, onions, butter, or bacon bits. Pierogies are famous in Eastern European cuisine and are enjoyed as a comfort food in many parts of the world.
You can air-fry pierogies in just 8 minutes, making them the perfect after-school snack! Today, we opted for air-fry pierogies rather than deep-frying them. They have great taste, and who doesn’t love a simple recipe?

How To Cook Frozen Piergoes in Air Fryer
To cook frozen pierogies in the air fryer, follow this step-by-step guide:
Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F (180°C) for 3-4 minutes. Place perogies in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching each other. Spray with olive oil (or another cooking oil) to help them get extra crispy on the outside. You can also brush the oil on with a basting brush instead.
Cook pierogies in the air fryer for 8 minutes at 400 degrees F. Use tongs to flip them halfway so they cook evenly.
Once the pierogies are golden brown and crispy outside, they are ready to be served.
Optional: Serve the air-fried pierogies as a side dish or a quick appetizer with your favorite dipping sauce or toppings, such as sour cream, chopped green onions, or crispy bacon bits.
Pro Tips For Cooking Frozen Pierogies in Air Fryer
- Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer before adding the frozen pierogies to ensure even cooking and a crispy texture.
- Arrange them in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation, resulting in evenly cooked pierogies. Depending on the size of your air fryer base, you may need to cook these in batches.
- Brush with oil: Lightly brush the frozen pierogies with oil before air frying to enhance their crispiness and prevent them from sticking to the basket.
- Flip halfway through: For optimal results, flip the pierogies halfway or shake air fryer basket, through the cooking process to ensure they are evenly cooked on both sides.
- Serve immediately: Enjoy the pierogies while they’re hot and crispy for the best taste and texture.
- Serving Suggestions: Serve with a dollop of sour cream or cream cheese.

Mrs. T’s are great. I make my own because I have to. If you’re not Polish, you wouldn’t understand the guilt of buying Mrs. T’s. To be honest they are pretty close. Carmelize some onions and saute bacon bits for the side. Also, salsa and sour cream are the bomb! And, Perog is 1 and Perogi is more than 1. “Perogies” is a made up plural American word.

Thank you for posting this. One of my favorite side dishes but they take so long to fry,( I have a small skillet with lid) So again thank you I can hardly wait to try them this way

Hey, absolutely great recipe! Love pierogies and have wanted to make them healthier than deep frying them in cooking oil. The air fryer alternative is a GREAT way to make these, healthy and scrumptious. Yay to the recipe!! Thanks for sharing.

Great recipe, easy.
Love pierogies this way. Can taste the crunchy crust/dough in a different way, and the flavour of the filling comes through more than boiled or fried. So quick and easy to make a few to go with a salad. Didn’t even eat them with sour cream or any sauce. Just plain and they were good!

Love this

Trying this tonight! We have the power xl air fryer with the three racks. Hope it turns out! They are still cooking?

I used frozen Mrs Ts pierogis and an instant pot duo crisp. (@400°)
I made 2 layers of 4 using the little shelf for the basket. I flipped them after 4 minutes and after the next 4 minutes they were still soggy, I put them in for 2 more minutes. After that they had started to brown a little bit, but I put them in for 3 more minutes. They were golden
brown and crispy on the outside and soft inside after that.
Gail
Came out great! Put them in at 400 for 4 mins. Flipped them. Then another 4 mins.
Both sides were oil sprayed before cooking! Excellent. Used Kassia Pierogi with potatoes & cheese & topped with fried onions.
Jason
Delicious. Have made this twice now, each time following the recipe. A real comfort dish. Definitely make it again
