What are Pierogies?
While pierogies aren’t technically made of potatoes, mashed potatoes are one of the most common fillings! These traditional Polish dumplings are made from unleavened dough and then stuffed with sweet or savory fillings.
Along with mashed potatoes, other popular filling options include cheese, sauerkraut, meat, or fruit. They’re typically boiled or pan fried, and are served with toppings like sour cream, onions, butter, or bacon bits. Pierogies are famous in Eastern European cuisine and are enjoyed as a comfort food in many parts of the world.
You can also air fry pierogies! They’re ready in just 8 minutes, making frozen pierogies in air fryer the perfect after-school snack or side dish.

How To Make Air Fryer Frozen Pierogies
To cook frozen pierogies in air fryer, follow this step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Preheat the air fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F for 3-4 minutes. Preheating is important here — you want your air fryer to be nice and hot before you add the pierogies.
Step 2: Add the pierogies to the basket
Place the pierogies in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd them. Spray with olive oil (or another cooking oil) to help them get extra crispy on the outside. You can also brush the oil on with a basting brush instead.
Step 3: Air fry
Cook pierogies in the air fryer for 8 minutes. Use tongs to flip them halfway so they cook evenly.
Once the pierogies are golden brown and crispy outside, remove them from the air fryer. Let cool for a few minutes, and enjoy!
Pro Tips For Cooking Frozen Pierogies in Air Fryer
- Preheat the air fryer: You want the air fryer to be 400 degrees F before you even place the pierogies inside. You’ll get the best texture when you take the time to preheat!
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket: There needs to be enough room in the air fryer for the hot air to properly circulate. You may need to cook these in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Brush with oil: Don’t skip this important step! Lightly brush the frozen pierogies with oil before air frying to make them even crispier — and to keep them from sticking to the basket.
- Flip halfway through: For even cooking, remember to flip the pierogies halfway through the cooking time, or you can shake the air fryer basket.
- Serve immediately: Enjoy your air fryer frozen pierogies while they’re hot and crispy for the best taste and texture.

Mrs. T’s are great. I make my own because I have to. If you’re not Polish, you wouldn’t understand the guilt of buying Mrs. T’s. To be honest they are pretty close. Carmelize some onions and saute bacon bits for the side. Also, salsa and sour cream are the bomb! And, Perog is 1 and Perogi is more than 1. “Perogies” is a made up plural American word.

Hey, absolutely great recipe! Love pierogies and have wanted to make them healthier than deep frying them in cooking oil. The air fryer alternative is a GREAT way to make these, healthy and scrumptious. Yay to the recipe!! Thanks for sharing.

Great recipe, easy.
Love pierogies this way. Can taste the crunchy crust/dough in a different way, and the flavour of the filling comes through more than boiled or fried. So quick and easy to make a few to go with a salad. Didn’t even eat them with sour cream or any sauce. Just plain and they were good!

Trying this tonight! We have the power xl air fryer with the three racks. Hope it turns out! They are still cooking?
Matt
I used frozen Mrs Ts pierogis and an instant pot duo crisp. (@400°)
I made 2 layers of 4 using the little shelf for the basket. I flipped them after 4 minutes and after the next 4 minutes they were still soggy, I put them in for 2 more minutes. After that they had started to brown a little bit, but I put them in for 3 more minutes. They were golden
brown and crispy on the outside and soft inside after that.
Gail
Came out great! Put them in at 400 for 4 mins. Flipped them. Then another 4 mins.
Both sides were oil sprayed before cooking! Excellent. Used Kassia Pierogi with potatoes & cheese & topped with fried onions.
Jason
Delicious. Have made this twice now, each time following the recipe. A real comfort dish. Definitely make it again
